A small review, on a small dvd player
Review of Sony DVPPQ2 by Ollydv

Advantages: Small and compact
Disadvantages: Not as stylish as most DVD players

This is what to expect from such a well know company, with such a good reputation. I bought this a few months ago to use as a DVD player in my room, so that i didnt have to keep transporting the one from downstairs all the time. If you're like me and dont have the space to keep a big box next to the TV then this is great instead of a standard size one. The size is the main reason i bought it, because my room is cluttered and if I had anything else ...
...wondeful. I have taken it round a few friends houses that don't have a DVD player so that we could watch some movies. It is easy to transport, all you need to do is unplug it from the TV and pop it in your pocket. Just joking it's not that small. The quality that the player produces is brilliant considering the size of it. The quality is just as good as my Hyundai one downstairs. You can make your own fascias for it but I dont do that, but it would ... Read review

Cool Black Box Under The TV!
Review of Sony DVPNS300 by shark29

Advantages: Attractive, Quality
Disadvantages: Lack of features eg zoom

Having bought the Sony NS300 as a first DVD player, I am generally very pleased with the product. As you would expect, being a Sony it is of a very high quality and is of an attractive sleek design. I have found that some features available on other players, such as a zoom feature are not present, and also it only plays local DVDs, and not CD-Rs. I have also found that newer models are coming onto the market much cheaper with some additional features, ... Read review

A great quality old-fashioned player.
Review of Sony DVPS336 by ruggero

Advantages: Good-looking, slim line player. Superb remote.
Disadvantages: Limited functionality by today's standards.

This is a relatively early DVD player, which I bought in February 2001. It cost around £270 then, but its longevity has made it great value. It has been used frequently and has performed excellently, though recently it has had trouble reading some DVDs. It's a very well designed piece of equipment. The silver finish looks great, the display is easy to read, the drawer's motion is fast and smooth and the fascia buttons are good to operate. These ...
...almost nothing you cannot do, making the remote the least essential one I know. Perhaps strangely, the remote is actually one of the best I have ever seen. It is long and thin and perfect to hold and use. Button layout is faultless, far better than some Sharp and Toshiba remotes I have used. Every required button is present with the frequently used ones being the largest (play, stop, pause, enter and the direction buttons). The player's sensitivity ... Read review

Sony have thought of everything here...
Review of Sony DVPFX1 by waga

Advantages: looks good, slimness, auxilary inputs
Disadvantages: initial cost, higher res screens out there.

Well, after having this DVD player for 4 years now, I can say without a doubt, it's been the best. One of the best features of this particular DVD player is the auxilary input. I am using this at the moment with the inputs of the DVD connected to the composite out of my VHS player, so I can watch TV on this too! Fantastic! I have also plugged in my PS One, PS2 and other devices into it and it works flawlessly. So using it as a secondary display is ...
...around Y175,000 (yen)). I purchased this DVD player 4 years ago for approx £950 in Japan, so it's region 2 only (UK is region2 also). I should have got it chipped ages ago by Techtronics to make it multiregion. The sound is a bit tinny (as you'd expect from a portable unit) but it's acceptable. The screen is good, with bright vibrant colours. I've seen the new portable dvd players by panasonic and sharp, and the outut from them is fantastic! then ... Read review

hd-dvd get one while you can !!!!
Review of Toshiba HD-E 1 by colin_bradbury

Advantages: as good as blu-ray , extreamly cheap , bargins to be had everywhere
Disadvantages: no longer supported format

..., with the announcement that Toshiba is to withdraw from the hd race for the next format it leaves hd-dvd players in a very poor position in the market place , however do not let this put you off , there is already a great library off hd-dvd discs out there and as there is no region coding on the discs ,this means you can order via eBay direct from use for even more titles , of course the likelihood of new movies coming out on this format are very ...
...and the latest firmware via Toshiba brings it right unto date with picture and sound , if your savvy you can get one of these and a collection of discs for a fraction of the price of a blu-ray player and start enjoying high definition discs , the money you save get be put to one side to but a blu-ray / ps3 when they inevitably come down in price later this year ...
