This is what to expect from such a well know company, with such a good reputation. I bought this a few months ago to use as a DVD player in my room, so that i didnt have to keep transporting the one from downstairs all the time. If you're like me and dont have the space to keep a big box next to the TV then this is great instead of a standard size one. ...wondeful. I have taken it round a few friends houses that don't have a DVD player so that we could watch some movies. It is easy to transport, all you need to do is unplug it from the TV and pop it in your pocket. Just joking it's not that small. The quality that the player produces is brilliant considering the size of it. The quality is just as good as my Hyundai one downstairs. This Sony has a lot going for it; the controls on the unit are neat and clear, the remote fits in the hand as though it had grown from it and I had it going through its paces within minutes of connecting it up. That the picture quality was excellent goes without saying since it IS Sony after all; I had a problem initially with Region1/NTSC discs running as black and white, but switching to SCART RGB from the quick menu ...
...someone else, I tried it with R2 and R1 DVDs, an NTSC VCD, some MP3s off a CD (fantastic on screen track menu control if you want it) and a Kodak picture disc. Superb! Disadvantages: Cannot play PAL in colour eg some extreme sports DVD's or old movies

...also connect it to a Sony stack which would be like your hi-fi or something if you don't have a Sony hi-fi. It is a scart unit also which is good because you do not have to tune it in or anything. (Make sure your TV or other appliance has an AV scart socket, most modern equipment does so you shouldn't have to worry) There is no set up needed, just plug in and your away, the remote even comes with Sony batteries... you cant ask for much more than ...
