Cheap And Cheerfull! A Great DVD Player!
Review of Philips DVP 3120 by Craigshadow12

Advantages: Low cost,Will play all the main formats,Fairly good quality.
Disadvantages: Altough its good its not good enough to be homes main DVD player.

...I had never owned a Philips DVD player before this purchase but was assured by many people that their DVD players were always in top form. This product is possibly the cheapest DVD players I have ever bought but must say that I found that for its price and what I use it for it was a great buy. Another reason I decided to buy this DVD player over the many other options that were available to me was because this DVD player is small and slim and is ...

My Favourite Mistake
Review of Toshiba HD EP30 by utero

Advantages: Good Upscaling DVD player, HD Titles are now rock bottom price
Disadvantages: Slow to load, clumsy remote

...myself this Christmas to a Toshiba EP-30 player. I had the HD capable tv and decided to see if it was a major difference. I purchased mine from Amazon for about £190 but with vouchers my outlay was less. Part of the attraction was the fact that you were given two dvd's in the box, namely 300 and The Bourne Supremacy. You could then mail in your receipt and receive a further five titles free. This made the deal fairly sweet and there certainly wasn't ...
...was good to see that Toshiba give you the leads to experience HD straight out of the box rather than giving the retailer an upsell opportunity. The first thing I noticed is that access to the film is not as quick as normal DVD. There is a loading time that can seem like an age although it's probably only about 45 seconds. Then it hit me, you think dvd quality is great well HD raises the bar. Watching 300, a film created in the digital realm was ... Read review

hd-dvd get one while you can !!!!
Review of Toshiba HD-E 1 by colin_bradbury

Advantages: as good as blu-ray , extreamly cheap , bargins to be had everywhere
Disadvantages: no longer supported format

..., with the announcement that Toshiba is to withdraw from the hd race for the next format it leaves hd-dvd players in a very poor position in the market place , however do not let this put you off , there is already a great library off hd-dvd discs out there and as there is no region coding on the discs ,this means you can order via eBay direct from use for even more titles , of course the likelihood of new movies coming out on this format are very ...
...and the latest firmware via Toshiba brings it right unto date with picture and sound , if your savvy you can get one of these and a collection of discs for a fraction of the price of a blu-ray player and start enjoying high definition discs , the money you save get be put to one side to but a blu-ray / ps3 when they inevitably come down in price later this year ... Get the most from your money
Review of Pioneer DV 530 by neiltom88

Advantages: Excellent quality for a great price
Disadvantages: Nothing for a lower budget player

This DVD player is an excellent buy for anyone wanting a good quality DVD player at a very reasonable price. The price of this player can vary greatly but it is availble for purchase online from www.techtronics.com for £169 plus p+p - coming to a grand total of around £190. It is a silver player with that is reasonable in size and relatively light in weight. It has a nice front display where mode and functions are displayed clearly. The instruction ...
...only a couple of minutes to setup with a scart lead and a very user-friendly on screen menu-setup system. The remote control is easy to use and relatively uncluttered and a very good size - batteries are included. The machine is very quiet which was surprising because most lower-budget DVD players are often quite noisy when they are playing making whirring and vibrating noises. As for picture quality it is superb and I have never had a DVD jump ... Read review

Philips DVP3020 - Stylish and cheap!
Review of Philips DVP 3020 by IzzyS

Advantages: Stylish, good picture and audio quality, pretty good range of supported formats
Disadvantages: Had problem with a previous unit not working properly, Only region 2 compatible

...that there is a model Philips do which does include DivX playback, with the same sleek design just a slightly larger spec at maybe £30 or so more than this model, so that would probably be worth looking into). This DVD player offers progressive scan, which gives it better picture quality compared to the old bog standard DVD players, it however does not upscale to HDMI (near HD picture quality). Having said that, I use my DVD player with my Philips ...
...pretty impressive, I've no complaints about it at all. There's no problems with lines or pixellations or anything like that and I haven't had any problems with DVDs being noisy or pausing alot, it seems to work pretty quietly and efficiently. The sound quality is also very good, it supports Dolby Digital, my TV is capable of playing surround sound and the sound quality from pre-recorded DVDs played on this unit is very good. It can play MP3 and WMA ... Read review
