Advantages: Brilliant DVD player, perfect quality Disadvantages: cant think of any
Yamaha products are really good i have several in my living room and this is only a small portion of the full thing.
This DVD player plays DIVX files which is always useful, it plays CD's and DVD's made from your computer (pirate). It is the best quality DVD player i have ever had, mine is liked to my Pioneer 44" plasma television and the picture quality is amazing. I also have the YAMAHA RX-V457 sound system hooked up to it aswell and it really ... ...My setup is better than going to the cinema the picture and sound quality is simply the best. This is an essential part of my collection, forget about BLU-Ray this is the future! LOUD! & CRYSTAL CLEAR. If you arent interested in blu-ray just yet this is the thing and it has lasted me years with no problems what so ever!
This dvd player really does everything, and is never off in my house, i love movies and music so im always using it and it hasnt ...

DVD yay!
Advantages: Reliable, robust DVD player Disadvantages: Bit on the chunky side
I got my Yamaha DVD-S520 for Christmas 2002. It was purchased from Richer Sounds for £129.95 (plus £9.99 delivery), though nearly a year and a half on I imagine you might be able to pick one up a bit cheaper. I also paid a little extra to get the region free version of this player.
I had decided to get a DVD player after many months of attempting to watch films on my computer through the DVD-ROM drive. Due to some technical problem with my computer, ... ...I decided on either this Yamaha DVD player or a Toshiba model. Due to the limited availability of the Toshiba in the run up to Christmas, I went for the Yamaha DVD-S520. What can it do?
*****************
The player is capable of playing DVD, Video CD and regular CDs and I have used it to play all 3 without any problems. The player will also read CDs or DVDs containing MP3 encoded audio tracks but not being much of a music downloader I haven’t needed ...

Denons mid-ranged upscaled goodness
Advantages: excellent upscaling, wealth of play back features Disadvantages: feels cheap
...other reason. I bought this Denon 1930 a couple of years ago, before Blu Ray took a foot hold and before I ordered my PS3. I have got a reasonably large DVD collection and I wanted something good that could do the old discs justice. Denon have a certain way with these things. The aptly named Denon DVD 1930 is now discontinued. Like other Denon products it was one in a line of DVD players in its range, it was followed by the 1940 but now seems to ... ...still a shining example. The Denon range goes up into the 3000 series and then the flagship DVD-A1UD which would set you back the princely sum of £4,500! It looks like it would play EVERYTHING though. The 1930 is a good example of an upscaling DVD player. When it first arrived along the similarly designed AVR 1907, at my house, I was pleased to see the eye catching design. I must say at this point that I was rather disappointed with the weight of ...

An excellent piece of kit
Advantages: Fantastic quality picture, easy setup, great looking player, upscaling, value for money Disadvantages: None
This dvd player is a fantastic piece of kit which looks fantastic. The player was very simple to setup for my LCD HD Ready tv as all I had to do was plug the player into the power socket and plug the HDMI cable into the tv and the other end in the DVD player and all was ready to go.
The player is an upscaling player which means that your standard dvd's will be much brighter and crisper than when you play them on a standard dvd player. The player ... ...weighs no more than the standard players on the market and when I first switched this on and inserted my dvd I was impressed by how quiet running the player was as well as how bright the picture was (my previous player was a Bush with upscaling which I was impressed with but this blew that out of the water).
This is a fantastic piece of kit which is packed full of features as well as having the standard features work perfectly (fast forward, chapter ...
