VERY SLIM DVD PLAYER---GOOd CHOICE
Review of Samsung DVD-F1080 by 123ejv

Advantages: most popular multimedia formats, upconver, small Compact
Disadvantages: No display on unit

Small Compact, reads most format DVD, Upconver No display on unit (but its on screen if needed) "Overall Im happy with purchase. you cant go wrong with it. The remote is a bit small but works great. I have ordered an HDMI cable and cant wait to see how good the upconvertion is." It also plays the most popular multimedia formats like DivX, MP3, WMA, JPEG and MPEG-4 clips. Slim, but powerfully-packed with upscale features, the F1080 takes DVD players ...
...player when you know the guts only take up a small fraction of the case. This one fits nicely on a shelf. One HDMI cable is so nice as well. DVDs look great on my 42"" 1080i LCD tv. But setup menu is REALLY slow to respond. No bundled HDMI cable, just a completely useless RCA cable.Weird buttons on the top. I wish they'd just have front buttons so I can stack stuff on it - but I guess it looks cooler. ... Read review

Award winning DVD player
Review of Denon DVD-1940 by sadoldbag

Advantages: Fantastic picture quality, fantastic audio quality, great value
Disadvantages: not exactly cheap, a bit chunky looking

I've just bought one of these. Oooh it's good. Really good. Here's why. It's a dead cool DVD player which is ideal if you have an HD ready telly and want to really enjoy your DVDs to the full. It has Dolby sound so is great if you hook it up to separate speakers, but pretty good if you don't, too. It comes in silver (well aluminium) or black, and compared to some DVD players it is quite chunky - about the thickness of a video recorder. I don't ...
...quality is awesome. Really sharp. It has 1080 upscaling, which means it is fully HD compatible, and a detachable mains lead, which I couldn't see the point of until More Technically Minded Hubby (MTMH) explained that this is a Good Thing as it allows you to upgrade the cable and get even better quality. Until buying this, I thought it was only worth paying thirty quid for a DVD player, but now I understand that you get what you pay for and this ... Read review

Review of Philips DVP 3120 by Craigshadow12

Advantages: Low cost,Will play all the main formats,Fairly good quality.
Disadvantages: Altough its good its not good enough to be homes main DVD player.

...I had never owned a Philips DVD player before this purchase but was assured by many people that their DVD players were always in top form. This product is possibly the cheapest DVD players I have ever bought but must say that I found that for its price and what I use it for it was a great buy. Another reason I decided to buy this DVD player over the many other options that were available to me was because this DVD player is small and slim and is ...

Press the "Play" button to play your DVD. I found this feature very useful ... Read review

Excellent Value
Review of Pioneer DV-600AV by Tanks

Advantages: Fantastic audio/AV Delivery
Disadvantages: Who cares

I have enjoyed the old Pioneer DV 626D for many years but up dated my TV to Samsung 1080 capability so invested in new 600av. Wow what a change! This is the best money I have ever spent on AV. I have an old Yamaha DSP2 Amp and B&W surround speakers. Now they dance to both audio and DvD. I played Harry Potter 3 on old system then on new. The difference is mind blowing! Then put on a classical cd and sit back and wonder what you have been missing. ...
...systems and would melt to hear what this system can deliver. Hey buttons are small it needs a bit of time to warm, up and do not rely on display for info but put your favourite DVd or CD on and sit back and enjoy. You will not be dissapointed!!. ... Read review

Disadvantages: remote a bit fiddly

...an attractive price tag the Philips DVP 5960 boasts a range of features you would expect from a player twice the price. Once connected via a HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) cable you have the option to select the picture resolution or use the automatic setting which will do the job for you, resulting pictures from standard DVD's are noticebaly sharper and colours more vibrant. You will need a HD ready TV to benefit and a large flat screen ...
