CELLO R100LB DVD Recorder
Review of Cello R100B by dwprices

Advantages: Able to view photos
Disadvantages: The batteries in the remote last 2 mins.

This was a bad purchase. The box its self is thin, but still very large. It is difficult to use, and you have to switch it over from watching DVD, to watching TV. The biggest problem with this DVD recorder is that the majority of buttons are on the remote control, and unless you want to buy a set of new AAA batteries every day, you can not use it. The otehr day we had a pre recorded DVD to watch, and because the unit was set to TV, we were unable ... Read review

Cheap no nonsense dvd recorder
Review of Cello DR 810 by gazman1511

Advantages: Easy set up and cheap
Disadvantages: No hard drive and poor quality remote control

I'd have to rate this product as good for those who want a cheap and simple to use DVD recorder (mine was under £70). Although it doesn't have a hard drive for recording programmes there are options to record for 120, 240 or 360 minutes on DVD depending on the length of program you wish to record. Personally, as a regular TV watcher I don't really see any difference in the quality of sound and picture whether using the 120 minute or 360 minute standard ...
...to record a number of separate programs to the same DVD (for example, if recording on the standard long play option, twelve separate 30 minute episodes of Only Fools and Horses can be recorded onto one DVD.) Set up is extremely easy and all you need is a blank dvd to start recording. Once a program has been viewed and you want to record again it is easy to delete the current program via a simple menu (takes about 10 to 15 seconds). One problem ... Read review

The Sony 'RDR-GXD360
Review of Sony RDR-GXD360 by womblebatman

Advantages: simple to set up and use, great recording quality
Disadvantages: slower than a drunk snail, no HDMI

I recently aquired a Sony DVD recorder (RDR-GXD360). The Sony has freeview built in and a good reputation for audio visual quality. Set up was easy, I used the smart link connection between DVD and TV which means you can operate alot of the TV functions by the DVD remote which saves on fiddling around with two handsets. There's no hard drive but you can record onto most DVD media except dual-layered DVD-R and DVD-RAM discs. It has a number of recording ...
...of anonying traits with the Sony however. The first being how long it takes to load a disc and then to shut down, it's very slow and seems to make lots of noise doing it, the cooling fan makes a noise most of the time There's also the fact that it has no HDMI connection. I recently brought a LCD 'HDMI' TV so I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't use that feature. In light of the present advances in technology the Sony appears a bit dated, obviously ... Phillips DVD Player - Brilliant
Review of Philips DVD-R 3480 by chrisattrill

Advantages: Looks good, Loads of features
Disadvantages: Expensive, Quite big

I bought this product a few days ago and I thinks its brilliant. In terms of the looks its stylish, and sleek. Not only you can you watch DVD in HD but also you can pause live TV, record it on its 160 gig hard drive and store photos and videos. For the price I feel it was a little too much. I paid £140 at Sainsbury. But looing at sources you can get it for much less (£80 - £100) I would reconmend this product to anyone who likes whatching TV and ...
...a hifi. It is east to set up, just connect the two wires (included) to the back of the TV. Next you just follow the simple instructions to add channels. You can also add VCR players and also a Top Up Box. All of the things to make this product work is inclueded even the bays for the remote. So what are you waiting for! Get buying ... Read review

Sony DVD/HDD
Review of Sony RDR-HXD 870 by skleen

Advantages: Easy to use with long record time on the HDD
Disadvantages: none

What a piece of kit this is, it is so simple to use and set up. It had lots of really good features and a long recording time on the hard disk. There are lots of different settings for recording quality and time but when you get down to the low end then the recording time might be high but the quality of the picture is not really watchable. We have it set so that there is approximately 250 hours worth of record time and this gives a picture quality ...
...is the USB input so you can use it and your TV like a very large digital photo frame, the only downside is I have not been able to download onto the USB which would be useful as some USB sticks are large enough to take a small movie. The DVD player and recorder both work well and so far we have had no problems with it and would recommend to anyone looking for a HDD and DVD setup. ... Read review
