Cheap no nonsense dvd recorder
Review of Cello DR 810 by gazman1511

Advantages: Easy set up and cheap
Disadvantages: No hard drive and poor quality remote control

I'd have to rate this product as good for those who want a cheap and simple to use DVD recorder (mine was under £70). Although it doesn't have a hard drive for recording programmes there are options to record for 120, 240 or 360 minutes on DVD depending on the length of program you wish to record. Personally, as a regular TV watcher I don't really see any difference in the quality of sound and picture whether using the 120 minute or 360 minute standard ...
...to record a number of separate programs to the same DVD (for example, if recording on the standard long play option, twelve separate 30 minute episodes of Only Fools and Horses can be recorded onto one DVD.) Set up is extremely easy and all you need is a blank dvd to start recording. Once a program has been viewed and you want to record again it is easy to delete the current program via a simple menu (takes about 10 to 15 seconds). One problem ... Read review

CELLO R100LB DVD Recorder
Review of Cello R100B by dwprices

Advantages: Able to view photos
Disadvantages: The batteries in the remote last 2 mins.

This was a bad purchase. The box its self is thin, but still very large. It is difficult to use, and you have to switch it over from watching DVD, to watching TV. The biggest problem with this DVD recorder is that the majority of buttons are on the remote control, and unless you want to buy a set of new AAA batteries every day, you can not use it. The otehr day we had a pre recorded DVD to watch, and because the unit was set to TV, we were unable ... Read review

Sony RDR-HXD-890 Hard Drive & DVD Recorder
Review of Sony RDR-HXD890 by derek-j-a

Advantages: Record to hard drive, DVD drive, watch and record at the same time.
Disadvantages: I needed to read the instruction manual!

...what was available. Being a Sony lover I was impressed by the RDR-HXD-890, one of the latest hard disk drive/DVD recorders from Sony's Range. It seems that black is back in vogue which I have always preferred; when I bought the last recorder, all I could get was silver, but there is a choice of black or silver with the RDR-HXD-890. When I got the machine home, I discovered that there were so many options on this machine that I had to sit down and ...
...lot different to my last Sony machine. The RDR-HXD-890 has a built in digital tuner for freeview, and an analogue connector for those who cannot yet receive a digital signal. It has two scart lead connections and HDMI output to connect to a high definition television. The machine has a 160GB hard disk drive and a DVD Recorder. The hard drive will store a maximum recording of up to 455hours and 23hours in HQ+ recording mode. There is a button on ... Read review
