Ooo its Daewoo!
Advantages: Cost ... All in one package! Disadvantages: Its not a Sony lol!
This release from Daewoo that contains everything you need for modern viewing in one smart box!
The DRVT43 comes with a DVD player which is also a DVD-RW, a VCr, and comes with built in freeview... A lot of bit considering you can find them online for £150! And even bettter considering a Sony DVD-RW will set you back more than this whole package!
The DVD player will play all dics apart from DivX (which is a format mainly used online anyway) so ... ...friend and it not working (not that im condoning that sort of behaviour lol)!!!
If you hav a surround sound system at home this is compatible with that but a seperate amp will be needed--- theres normally one of those in your existing system anyway :D
For £150 I dont think you can go wrong, its cheap, its compact and its ready for freeview so instant extra channels --- what more do you need?
The biggest Con I would say about this product is it ...

DR2100P
Advantages: Good design. Easy to use remote and menus. Disadvantages: No 5.1 surround sound decoder. It doesn't play computer rcorded DVDs
I owned it for two years then the tuner stopped working rendering it a DVD player. Then all of the AV out connections stopped working. Whilst I could have repaired it, the part was £76 compared to the £60 price of the whole machine! It had a well set out menu good picture quality and the remote worked well. No 5.1 surround sound output, just stereo, but then most DVD players and recorders still don't have 5.1 surround sound decoders. It is a sturdy, ...

It DOESN'T do what it says on the box!
Advantages: If it did what it was supposed to it would be a great machine... Disadvantages: ...but it doesn't
...Now, I know, the Daewoo is not the only combi VCR/DVD recorder out there but what attracted me to it was that it seemed on the face of it to do all the things I wanted it to do. It also appeared to have all the features that would make it at least a little bit future-proof, if there is such a thing these days.
Most of the machines that have been produced up until recently only feature SCART interfaces but I now had an HD TV with high quality input ... ...these on the TV. The Daewoo supports DiVX format files although, as I was to find out, this came with limitations. However, second tick.
Another thing I was looking for was the ability to directly record from VHS video tape to recordable DVD. The Daewoo claimed to be able to do this "One Touch". The recording would be into DVD format though; nothing as sophisticated as direct to DiVX on offer. Still I could do that on the computer once I'd got it ...

Advantages: easy to use great picture quality Disadvantages: a little costly
Samsung DVD-SH895
This HDD ready DVD player is quite impressive although it is a tad costly, you can find it at Tesco’s for £199 and may pay a little more at other stores such as Curry’s or Comet. Although having said that if you go to the checkout at Comet and tell them you’ve found it cheaper elsewhere they wil look it up on their computers and match the price, I have done this several times at Comet and they have always matched the price of other ... ...and compare prices.
The Samsung DVD is black and has built in freeview, which saves on buying two items separately. Its easy to set up, just plug in and go to the menu to tune in the free view and away you go. The quality of the picture is excellent, I noticed the difference in quality straight away, the picture is cleared and crisp.
It doesn’t come with extra scart leads though so you have to buy these separately.
It has a CD ripping function ...

I dare you to press RECORD
Advantages: The ability to transfer VHS to DVD Disadvantages: Sometimes graphics never turn out the way you want them to
This review is for the Toshiba RD XV47-K-TE multifunction DVD player and recorder. Setup ------------ Well the DVD player is pretty easy to get ready but you will take a while to sort out the options. You plug the mains into the socket and you just have to wait for the system to load up. You find the right channel usually for me it would be an AV scart section and you have a blue screen pop up. You use the remote control to select options such ... ...recorder to actually find channels which is not advisable as will be explained later on. Once the settings are done you can then go ahead and play anything you wish to on this system without any hassle at all. Design ----------- The DVD recorder is mainly black which is perhaps obviously from the picture. On the front you have the main buttons and functions; you have the opening for the DVD's to be placed into and a VHS opening as well for ...
