Toshiba RD88DTKB
Review of Toshiba RD88DTKTF by Scada

Advantages: Good quality
Disadvantages: EPG design flaw

The Toshiba RD88DTKB is a good looking unit and does almost everything I want. It is connected to an old TV via Scart so cant comment on HDMI functionality. HDD/DVD dubbing works well. Pausing of live TV is good. The unit is let down by its EPG guide. This covers 95% of the screen and so its difficult to see the background programme. Where the unit loses most of its stars is in the way the EPG is used. When browsing via the EPG the TV channel in ...
...to the channel you were watching in the first place. in other words you use the guide to see whats on then note down the channel number then punch in the channel number afterwards. This is crazy. Toshiba helpline say its not a fault but a design feature!!! ... Read review

Slimline DVD Recorder for under £100
Review of Toshiba DR 160 by davejug1

Advantages: Inexpensive option. Sleek design
Disadvantages: Lack of functions. Fiddley installation.

Ok the two reasons I purchased this model are : 1) It was cheap (and I needed one fast) 2) It's design (I didn't want it getting in the way) So for these reasons I am happy, but now I am looking for a little more from the recorder, more than it can provide. Vision - Progressive scan capabilities usually ensures a fantastic clear picture. Unfortunately not in this case. While the picture quality is good, you really don't feel like you are in the ...
...you have it set up right, the sound is not only crystal clear, but you can become immersed into it. 5/5 Features - Plays a host of different formats (DVD-R/RW, CD, JPEG/MP3 CDs, VCD) and records to DVD-R/RW. Really lacking some decent features, it simply plays/records. No capability for dual-layer disks, DVI or DivX. With this recorder, you really are paying very little so features are going to be a little lacking. Design - It's slimline so you ... Read review

Toshiba RD-85 DT Dvd recorder - review
Review of Toshiba RD-85 DT by AshR3006

Advantages: Easy to use, not to big
Disadvantages: Whirring noise, slow start up

We bought this Dvd recorder to replace the vcr, dvd player and freeview box we previously had in our front room. Although the remote control takes a little while to master, it is easy to use and nagivigate, for example to record a programme its a case of pressing just 3 buttons, also programmes you have recorded are easy to store and to find. The sound and picture quality are really good and the product is a nice size and also attractive looking. ...
...long time to start up, no good if yu in a rush, also you can only watch the channel you are recording whilst recording unless you watch just the normal tv in which case you are limited to channels 1 - 5! Also the fan inside the box makes a rather loud whirring noise constantly while the dvd recorder is turned on, which can be rather annoying. ... Read review

A DVD recorder that will go on and on
Review of Toshiba RD-XS25-S-TE by ironie

Advantages: simple to use, gives good results every time
Disadvantages: electronics are so quickly updated with more functional models

The Toshiba RD-XS25-S-TE is an attractive, stylish DVD Recorder with 160GB hard disc drive. The casing is silver and the fascia is silver with a wide black strip which houses the operating buttons. Its dimensions are W 42 cm x D27.4 cm x H 5.8 cm and it weighs 4.3 kg The RD-XS25-S-TE has a progressive scan. This works in the same manner as your computer monitor. It writes one full frame of video from left to right across the screen every 1/60 of ...
...been very happy with the Toshiba RD-XS25-S-TE and it is a reliable and functional appliance. It has been made redundant to some extent by the cable TV V-drive but rather than get rid of the Toshiba we have moved this in to our bedroom. It easy to use, has an excellent guide and gives excellent results every time we use it. It has no problem with a wide variety of discs and has rejected nothing we have ever fed it. As with the majority of Toshibas ... Read review

Amazing quality!
Review of Toshiba RD-97DT by joe-survey

Advantages: So many features
Disadvantages: ???

Introduction As I have mentioned in a previous review, my grandparents like to have good quality, modern technology. This DVD recorder is a relatively new addition to their house. (Then again so is everything else) When I know they have something new, I know they have done their research and that it is good quality. When I went to their house and was given the Holy tour of electrical goods, I saw that it was a very good machine. Toshiba RD ...
...are more than I have seen in any other. It includes a built in freeview box, which is useful now we keep hearing about the digital switchover. The integrated freeview is rarely used though as they have one built into their TV, but I have been told it is relatively easy to use. The other features are listed below, so that I don't blab on. Now, to it's purpose; Recording DVDs. My grandparents are always coming across extremely embarrassing VHS cassettes ... Read review
