Dymo is a company that produces label makers of all sorts of sizes and for all different usages going from office to warehouse therefore from simple ones to more durable results for example. In my case I got this model which is not one of the most complicated ones but definitely does the job and does it well and quick!

THE LABELWRITER ********** The size of this item is roughly 16 cm x 9 cm x 4.5 cm. It has a bit of a "mushroom" shape which means that you can easily grip it, the display is on the larger area therefore you have a better view of what you are writing. It is a bit heavy I have to confess, suppose the batteries inside do not help it (may be the should create a solar powered one!!) and to make it work you would need six AAA batteries. The same batteries will probably last you something like a year (suppose it might differ according to usage to be honest and also the quality of the batteries). A good point of this is that if you do not switch it off after you use it, it does switch off itself as to avoid wasting energy.
In order to work this gadget needs tape cassettes which are basically the labels you will be writing on, they come in either 9mm thick or 12 mm and you get 7 metres of tape for each cassette. These labels come in all sorts of colours, black on white background, black on transparent blackground, black on green, red on white, white on blue, black on yellow… you are definitely spoilt for choice especially if like me you find it easy to file according to colours.
This labelwriter is totally versatile, not only you have numbers and letters of the English alphabet but also other foreign letters with or withoug accents you might come across now and again. You of course have the option of writing capital letters but you can also add arrows, stars, smiley faces, telephone or computer symbols, main currency signs. You also have the option of printing in 3 different font sizes, small - medium - large, you can also print in bold and italic. Plus apart from printing horizontally you can also do it vertically which can be very good if you have files standing on your desk.
This item is very durable, it is made of hard plastic and I don't think it will break that easily unless you smash it "good and proper" just to see how far it goes!!

THERMAL TRANSFER? ********** Previous label makers used to work by writing with in on to the label, that means that not only you needed to buy a tape but also an ink cartridge. This new labelmaker works instead by sticking with heat the top layer of the of the tape on to a base hence the fact that their colours come as black on green, red on white etc. in this way only the needed letters get stuck by the power of heat on to the base to reveal a label. Once the process has terminated you push a button which cuts the label from the machine and it is ready to use (make sure you peel away the paper from the back first!!)
CUSTOMER CARE ********** Their customer care is pretty good, when you receive this item all wrapped up in its own box, you get all sorts of paperwork, to start with you get a thick manual (that is because it comes in different languages) which explains the various functions, and that is pretty easy to follow through, then you get a one year warranty that starts when you register your item via email. Furthermore you get a sheet with round stickers. Each sticker bears the customer helpline number of a different european country, you are meant to select your own and stick it on your Dymo machine so that you have the number handy in the event of something going wrong. The other numbers…. well… I suppose you can just stick them on to your colleagues' belongings and have a laugh...
MY OPINION ********** Totally recommend this as it does save lots of time and saves you the tedious job of having to write into little bits of paper, mess around with glue or cellotape or create labels with your computer. The results are neat, clean and all looks very professional and easy to read. You can also use different coloured tapes so that you can colour code which might further facililtate your job. Always browse around for offers don't just go to their website for convenience!
