I've been playing electric guitar for a little over 2 years now and have always bought D'addario strings, experimenting between 9, 10 & 11 gauge, Nickel Wound strings.
I personally find the 10 gauge strings best for comfort and playability as they do not grate your skin as much as 11+ gauges and do not cut into your skin as much as the 9 gauge strings.
The strings do not last exceptionally long periods of time if you don't maintain them with regular cleaning (oils & such).
The only problem I have had with D'addario strings was a dodgy packet from a pack of three sets of 11 gauge strings. The strings just kept breaking before they were even tuned in. Luckily the retailer sent me a pack of new strings without enquiring about the broken ones.
To conclude, I buy D’addario strings because they are comfortable to play on, their colour co-ordination makes them easy to put on the
guitar for newbies and they sound good.
