Go Wireless with D-Link

Advantages: Easy to set up and use, Stable, Good support
Disadvantages: A bit out dated

The D-Link DWL-G650+ is a PCMCIA wireless (WiFi) card, which plugs into an available PCMCIA slot on a laptop. With this card, it wireless-enables a laptop, assuming it doesn't have built-in wireless already. The card cost me about £25 at the time but you may be able to find the same one cheaper now. Most of these seem to be in this price range if not less, since they are becoming redundant with new laptops already having built-in cards. It's a 802.11G card, which means theoretically, it can transfer 54Mbits/s but they never get to that speed. Most residential broadband connections nowadays only range up to 10Mbit/s. INSTALLATION I find the installation of this card has always been very easy. I just install the driver and software off the CD and then plug the card in. This literally takes minutes. Only thing I'm not too keen on is ...

D-link DP-300U for all your printing needs

Advantages: Link upto 3 printers on 1 IP address. Simple setup
Disadvantages: None

Where I work, we have always purchased the HP Jetdirect print server devices. However, when we bought a whole load of Magicard badge printers we found out after several painful days that these only worked with the D-link DP300u print servers due to some strange setting within the printer. With this information, we were forced into buying the D-link blind with no time to do any background research or fact finding. The D-link is a 3 port print server, 2 ports are serial with the other being USB. This means that upto 3 printers can be attached to the print server at any one time. At the time we bought them, they were around £80 each. --Whats in the box-- The D-link print server comes in a very compact box with just enough room for the components. There is the print server itself which is nicely designed to comply ...

Dlink Strikes Again

Advantages: 8 Port
Disadvantages: Static.

reliable? It is relatively reliable but it is no different to any other switch on the market in terms or reliability. 4. User Friendly Is it user friendly? Yes it is the easiest thing it the world to use. It is a plug and play switch plug you computers in to the ports on the back and plug the power cable in and it is done. The only complicated part is windows set up which I wont go in to as all versions are different. Conclusion. So the DES 1008D does live up to the requirements of an office environment. And at the price I don't think any one could complain. The price is around £20 - £35 and is worth every penny. Dlink products are generally one of the best developed and created networking instruments on the market. They offer reliability and a great customer support facility. And for this they should be respected. ...
