Advantages: Link upto 3 printers on 1 IP address. Simple setup Disadvantages: None
Where I work, we have always purchased the HP Jetdirect print server devices. However, when we bought a whole load of Magicard badge printers we found out after several painful days that these only worked with the D-link DP300u print servers due to some strange setting within the printer. With this information, we were forced into buying the D-link blind with no time to do any background research or fact finding.
The D-link is a 3 port print server, 2 ports are serial with the other being USB. This means that upto 3 printers can be attached to the print server at any one time. At the time we bought them, they were around £80 each.
--Whats in the box--
The D-link print server comes in a very compact box with just enough room for the components. There is the print server itself which is nicely designed to comply ...

Advantages: Easy to set up and use, Stable, Good support Disadvantages: A bit out dated

USING

While using the XP function, I'm usually connected as soon as I've turned on my laptop so no need to choose to connect to a network. It's the same with the D-Link utility. When connected to a wireless network, the card flashes.
The D-Link software lets you scan the area for wireless networks and then lets you choose which one you want to connect to. The software looks very professionally made and has information like Link Quality, Signal Strength as well as Data Rate, which is good to know so you know.
The range is pretty good but it varies depending on the Access Point and the surroundings. WiFi connections don't go through thick walls ...
Advantages: Very easy to set up, inexpensive Disadvantages: Can lose signal sometimes
In my house we have two computers and a broadband internet connection, but we couldn't use both PCs on the net at once.
To sort this out, I decided to set up a wireless network but was a bit worried it would be too complicated. Thankfully this network adapter proved to be very easy to use.
I bought two, one for each PC. The card comes with a CD, with all the software needed on it. You have to install the software BEFORE you put in the card. Installing the software was very simple, there were no problems or errors.
The PCs I was installing the cards on use Windows 98SE, and the software worked fine on it, so 2000, NT and XP users shouldn't have any difficulties.
The software features a utility which sits in your system tray and allows you to easily change different settings, including encryption, and shows you signal strength ...
