Manufacturer's product description
With its built-in ADSL modem, the DSL-2640B connects to a phone socket and provides a secure and high-speed Internet access for homes and offices. Setting up the router and adapter is easy even for non-technically minded people, with D-Link Click'n Connect: run directly from the product CD-ROM, this wizard takes you through an interactive step-by-step guide, including installation of the adapter. A powerful dual firewall (SPI and NAT) prevents Denial of Service (DoS) attacks and attempts to breach your network from the Internet. You can also define a list of allowed sites to restrict web access during certain periods.
Advantages: Reliable, Fast, Easy to configure, Lots of features, USB for sharing drives Disadvantages: Bit expensive, Not full speed with every machine
...INTRO
The Belkin N+ router is one of the higher end (consumer) wirelessmodemrouter offerings from Belkin. It cost me £85 from PC World, but can probably be found for a bit less if you shop online. The Cable version costs a little less. Reason I bought this one was because two PCs in the house with wireless cards kept losing the wireless connection when I was using a Linksys router (my own PCs / laptops were fine though!). I replaced that with a second hand Belkin, which worked fine but unfortunately, a power cut killed the wireless on it. Liking the performance of that cheaper Belkin router, I decided to stick with Belkin and get this one!
DESIGN
The router looks very stylish and stands up tall rather than laid down flat. It doesn?t appear to have been designed to be laid down flat like many other routers, which may...

Advantages: Fast speeds, Reliable, Stylish Disadvantages: I had wireless problems, Gets a bit warm, no restart router option in config
...The Linksys WAG160N N300 is an ADSL2+ wirelessmodemrouter, meaning it has a a modem built in. It is for use with BT Internet connections rather than for use with a Cable broadband connection (i.e. Virgin) although a Cable version is also available. It?s an ADSL2router, which means it supports the newer ADSL standard, which could mean faster transfer speeds although this really depends on your line quality, distance from Exchange, service with ISP, etc. The router currently costs £74.99 from PC World but a bit less at £59.99 on their website. I bought mine about 8 months ago on Ebuyer for around £55.
IN THE BOX
You receive two ADSL filter
s, RJ11 cable, user manual, manual and software CD, power adapter and lastly, the router itself.
THE ROUTER ITSELF
One thing I quite like about the router is that it looks quite...

...Bought 1 of these modem/routers 2 months ago from Amazon for £64.00 which included a Wireless USB 2.0 adaptor free (valued at £26.48) have just purchased another for my daughters computer.I would recommend this modem/router to anyone as it is so simple to set up using Netgears smart wizard as it detects your ISP's settings,I had my daughters computer and laptop connected in 15 minutes. You have always on Internet connectivity and fast speeds (up to 140 times faster than dial-up).
Comes with all the cables you require and an ADSL phone line filter.
The router/modem does not look out of place sat on your desk as it is nice and slim.
Definitely a good buy and the offer at Amazon with a free adaptor is definitely saving you money. This offer is on until the end of January 2006....
