'ow do, I'm from Yorkshire. I say what I like and I like what I bloody well say. I'm the voice of a nation and Radio God to boot (also very modest). Catch me live, Thursdays, in The Snug (www.snugradio.co.uk) to see whats currently taking my fancy.

The fact that you're looking at this review tells me you want to stream all your lovely downloaded files to your TV. Before I begin though...you see those picture and sound quality ratings? You do realise they're meaningless for this product, don't you? The quality is solely dependant on the quality of the files you want to stream. With that out of the way, let's move on to my 'medialounge' experience.
Supported Video Formats MPEG 1 MPEG 2 MPEG 4 Xvid AVI
Audio Playlist Formats M3U PLS
Classy Chassis
Slimline, sexy, glowing blue LED frontage. It's quite a classy looking piece (as far as these things go) and should slot into your current set up. The only button on the front is the POWER. That's it.
You connect it to your tv (using the variety of sockets on the back...surely one of which will suit your AV set up) and then power it on. All being well, you will be able to run the onboard wizard that lets you set up you wireless network details.
Hang on there though... haven't you forgotten something? Go back to your PC and install that darned Sever Software. While you're there...check your wireless router and make sure its within a working range of your new player.
I have had a couple of issues with the player not seeing the server...just before I get to the point where I start making antenna adjustments, they seem to appear. Could be just my setup (routers not in an ideal place) but its irritating.
Playback is fine....it has fallen over on a couple of movie files (saying 'unsupported') and sometimes there's stuttering and lag (Again, I think it's my router placement rather than a problem with the kit) but other than that it's great. MP3 are adequately filed and sorted and play equally well. It also does photos (see formats above).
Another feature you may (or may not) like is the ability to connect to online radio streaming. If you use Radio AOL, Napster, Rhapsody and Live365 (where I broadcast from) then you can now listen through your TV.
I got my unit from the 'Bay for just a shade under £80...expect to pay about £100...I got a bargain!!
Granted, it's reaonably new technology and not without it's teething troubles, but this is the future...all kinds of media being streamed from one place in the house to the main Entertainment setup.
Go now, Go watch some tv...
