...away from the spare bedroom where the router was. THe thing comes with a cradle thingy so you can angel it to get a better reception, which is pretty useful, especially given it's for a PC desktop - you can hardly move the whole desk!
In terms of function, it honestly didn't seem to slow up the performance of the desktop noticeably. We use it with a 802.11g router.
For those who like stats, it has:

WhyFi? Review ofD-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL G132by
tektonnic
...Firstly I am a Mac user, this is relevent because this D-Linkadapter is surprisingly one of the few 3rd party wifi adapters which work with both Windows XP and Mac OS X.
Aesthetically its a grey block, about 1cm deep and 5cm long, so quite a chunky little package, which has led to it hitting things when moved and led to the adapter becoming bent, although surprisingly resiliant to break and is still fully functional. It has 2 LEDs, one displaying whether the adapter is linked to a WiFi base and the other flashes to indicate whether the adapter is active.
It connects via USB and works on both 2.0 and 1.0 standards, therefore should work on all USB enabled computers.
It is packaged with the correct software and is really easy to install. It operates at the fastest current general WiFi standard, Wireless-G....

I had this wireless adapter bought me at Christmas to go with my wireless router which I have already reviewed. The idea in mind was to set it up on another computer in another room so that I could go on the internet with no need for cables to be trailing any where.
Installation
************
The installation is very simple and quick. The wireless adapter is connected to the computer through a USB (Universal Serial Bus) cable with one end going from the adapter and the other into the back of the computer into a USB port. One of the best things about this adapter is that power adapter is not needed because the adapter can get its power through the USB cable.
When the computer has loaded the adapter will have been detected. Using the CD that came with the adapter insert it into the CD-ROM and wait...
