Advantages: Great stable router with great range and speed Disadvantages: None found yet
...Picking a router is pretty difficult these days.
There are an awful lot of routers out there and it is very, very difficult to choose the right one for you. The obvious things to consider are
• Price
• Ease of use/Ease of set up
• Speed
• Range
• After sales support
The more technical would also consider the functionality offered.
The DG834N ticks the right boxes in each of these areas.
Out of the box the router looks rather sleek. It's a white box roughly the same size of a hardback book. Some yellowish flashing lights at the front inform you whether the router is switched on, whether it's connected to the internet, and whether it is transmitting a wireless signal. It also has no external aerials which I'll come back to in a moment.
The router comes with the standard 4 Ethernet ports and supports both ADSL and ADSL2+ and as far as I...

Advantages: Easy to install with a little help from guy on phone at D Link Disadvantages: Instruction manual not very helpful
...Bought this item cheaper in currys and came with wireless adapter which was very good value for money. Instruction manual not much cop as only took you through the first two stages of installation though guy on phone at D Link really helpful and talked us through it. Very easy to instal and installed in about 15 mins. Had been looking for a wirelessrouter as just changed over to Virgin Media from Sky and had never heard of D Link (bought for the price) but very happy with product and would definitely buy D Link again, desktop and laptop now wireless, also happy with speed though don't know if this has anything to do with the router or if computer would be that speed anyway. Would definitely recommend though....

Advantages: Easy to physically install Disadvantages: Short working life, loses settings regularly
...Back in March 2007, I bought my first laptop. This brought the number of computers in our house up to a grand total of three (my own desktop, my daughter's and the new laptop). It struck me that perhaps it was time to get networked. A hard wired network was out of the question, as I didn't want to start drilling holes and running cables everywhere, so a wireless solution seemed to be the way to go. I did a little research, as I'm not too au fait with this side of computing (though I have assisted in installing one before). Eventually in Pissy Werld (sorry, PC World), I found this package from D-Link. It consisted of the wirless router itself and a seperate antennae (destined for my daughter's bedroom PC). Also in the box were installation CDs for each of the two bits of hardware, a power supply and an additional ethernet cable..
So...
