I had an old portable cluttering up my kitchen for a while and had decided it had to go to give me more room, However i didnt realise how much i would miss it for when i had to cook when my favourite programs were on.
So i went on the hunt for an inexpensive flat screen tv, was there such a thing? Yes was the answer to my delight, it came in the shape of the daewoo DSL_17D3, a cute little thing which going by the picture i could see in the shops display looked like good tv too.
At the very reasionable price of £169.99 i thought this was the tv for me, so i bought it and set of home to see if it looked good in my kitchen and well i can tell you it did but then this stylish tv would look good just about anywhere.
the tv`s specifications ---------------------------
stereo sound Picture In Picture Auto tuner Resolution 1280 x 768 fastext 1 x scart sleep timer Screen size: 17'', Aspect ratio: 16:9, Frequency: 50 Hz, Additional decoders: HDTV Ready.
This can be used as a pc monitor as well as a tv but in my case it was bought solely as a tv.
setting this tv up caused me no problems at all as it has built in auto tuner it was just a case of sticking the arial in and letting the telly do the rest.
the sound isnt quite as loud as it could be and has to be turned up quite far to be heard over any disturbance but it does have connections that would allow it to be connected easily to a home cinema system or amplifier should you require.
The only other sets i had seen around this price range were the durabrand range in asda which look and feel quite cheap and nasty, this tv however as well as looking good also feels very robust and looks much more expensive than it actualy is.
The tv comes with the stand that you will see in my picture included but can also be wall mounted (with a mounting set sold seperately for around £15).
so over all i was very happy with this purchase at the time and three months on that hasnt changed i still think i made a very good choice!
Advantages: Very easy to set up, Disadvantages: Only 1 scart, and if you like your films cinematic try a larger screen
Having sold our rather bulky 32" widescreen we decided that as we didn't watch too much TV and we wanted more space in our living room that a smaller LCD TV was the way to go. The TV is a lot sturdier than it looks, due to the screen-wide stand at the bottom. It was very easy to set up, even my husband managed to do it! It only has one scart socket though. This is fine for us as we only need it for either watching Freeview or watching a DVD. However ... ...problem. You can get a scart box and connect all your different pieces of equipment but the TV can only read one signal at a time so if, for example, you have a VCR, DVD player and a Freeview Box connected and you want to watch a video, you'll need to turn your DVD Player and Freeview Box to standby.
We paid £299 for ours, from Curry's, which I think is reasonable for a decent 17". I would recommend this if you only watch TV occasionally or are ...
