Advantages: reasonable price, only insurance and road tax to pay after the first year. Disadvantages: Insurance and road tax only included for first year
When my 10 year old Nissan Sunny was needing to be replaced (MOT, insurance and automobile rescue almost expired, service and repairs required) I looked around for a second – hand car, I also had a look in a Daewoo garage and saw the 3 door Lanos 1.4S for £7999, which I believed was out of my price range, however on discussion with a showroom assistant (“they don’t have salesmen”), I was offered the Lanos at a price I thought I could afford, with a special offer of 1 years free insurance and cut price purchase scheme. Delivery was scheduled on the day after the MOT expired on the Sunny, but if they could not bring this forward by a day, then they would provide a courtesy car for this period. I had just bought six months road tax for the Sunny, and was told that as the car would not have a MOT, then I would be ...
Advantages: reliable, hard working, good looking, spacious, comfortable, Disadvantages: retail value drops a terrifying amount which is good for second handers.
My Daewoo Lanos 1.6 Automatic saloon is a real find. It was my first Daewoo and I have had it from new since August 2003. I've never had a problem or fault with it and it feels spacious, luxurious in many ways and I can't fault the car or the Daewoo service. My only problem is that Daewoo does not hold it's value. I was shocked to have spent nearly £10,000 on it and to find two years later that is was worth £2400 but as I intend to keep it, it is not a problem for me. The automatic moves swiftly through the gears, the car feels stable and secure on the road, and even in high winds. The car parts are quick, easy and cheap to get (I needed a new side mirror and had no problem getting hold of one that same day) and the whole car feels more substantial and hard wearing than many. The petrol tank doesn't hold as much as I would like but this ...
Advantages: Fun, cheap to run and insure, stylish and safe. Disadvantages: Leaky sunroofs.
This review is based on a 2004 Renault Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique.
After having an accident in my previous Clio (a 1.6 16v Dynamique) I set out looking for a new car, eventually I found myself (after much looking) the following car?
A 2004 Renault Clio 1.2 16v Dynamique in flame red, the colour I really wanted, my previous car had digital climate control and an electric sunroof so I purposefully found a car that also had these features.
Being the 2004 model it had the face lifted front end (MK2 PH3)
The car I found had the following specification:
Performance:
Engine - 1.2 16v 4cyl MPI (multipoint injection)
Power - 75bhp
Torque - 105Nm
0-60 - 12.6secs
Top Speed - 106mph
Gearbox - 5 speed manual
Interior:
Sports seats
Digital Climate Control
Electric Sunroof with sunblind
Electric windows (one touch ...
