When my 10 year old Nissan Sunny was needing to be replaced (MOT, insurance and automobile rescue almost expired, service and repairs required) I looked around for a second – hand car, I also had a look in a Daewoo garage and saw the 3 door Lanos 1.4S for £7999, which I believed was out of my price range, however on discussion with a showroom assistant (“they don’t have salesmen”), I was offered the Lanos at a price I thought I could afford, with a special offer of 1 years free insurance and cut price purchase scheme. Delivery was scheduled on the day after the MOT expired on the Sunny, but if they could not bring this forward by a day, then they would provide a courtesy car for this period. I had just bought six months road tax for the Sunny, and was told that as the car would not have a MOT, then I would be allowed to reclaim the outstanding road tax. I was also given a reasonable part exchange price for the Sunny. The car also came with 1 years road tax, 3 years warranty, 3 years servicing and 3 years total AA cover, this is also a big saving on my yearly car expense outlay.
Equipment: - For the lowest priced Lanos it comes with what a good range of equipment: - central locking (which also includes the boot), immobiliser, stereo RDS radio and cassette (with auto replay), theft insurance for the radio cassette, key registration scheme, anti-theft registration scheme and even a light in the boot.
One Year on: - The car has just had its 10,000-mile service, with no problems at all, and at no cost to me.
Feelings and failing of the car: - Nothing major, the petrol consumption is reasonable, although slightly worse than the Sunny, (especially during town driving). The major failing I find is that the face level ventilation does not have individual control.
I would certainly recommend this car to potential purchasers, especially as the price has now been reduced by £500.

I've seen a few of these around lately and must say they look far more expensive than they actually are - and from your review the spec seems really good too. And those little Matiz's are really funky!

I may consider the Matiz (or whatever the damn thing is called!) for my next car - I think they are sooo cute! Have you got a pink one???!! (to those who do not realise, this is in response to a comment left on my Handbag op!). Actually don't colourblind people see pink as grey....actually you probably see pink but know it as grey or something like that. Have you ever considered writing an opinion (member advice) on it....it fasinates me!
