We bought our Daewoo Lanos last year and haven't looked back. If you put it side by side with a Rover 216 then you would be hard pushed to tell the difference.
Ok so Daewoo aren't oozing with Street Cred but this little car has loads to offer and unlike the Rover 216 the engine and gearbox won't fall apart.
I did have reservations of buying one as they have a bit of an OAP's reputation and I am only 26 years old. Also my husband is 6'5" so I was a bit concerned about the drivers space but we found that the Lanos has the same cabin space as our old Citroen BX which is a much larger car. But I am still able to pull away quicker than escorts/boy racer cars. It is fun to see their look of astonishment.
We bought our Daewoo used but still got the remainder of the manufacturers warranty and membership to the AA.
The prices are extremely reasonable and they really do have models to please everyone.
Once you get over the stigma attached to the Daewoo name then you really do bag yourself a fantastic little motor.
We shall definately be buying a Daewoo again and I recommend you take a look at what they have to offer.
Advantages: reliable, hard working, good looking, spacious, comfortable, Disadvantages: retail value drops a terrifying amount which is good for second handers.
