Small car... big personality!
Advantages: Cheap to run, small, looks cute! Disadvantages: Clunky gears
...had never heard of the Daewoo Matiz, I was worried, but was reassured by his positive comments about the car.
My car is a Red Daewoo Matiz SE, 2000 model. It was in good condition when I got it, apart from a dent in the back.... there is now one in the front too (silly post!!). I immediatley fell in love with this little car. It is small and cute! The front of the car even looks like a face, with the big lights and red bumper. Although it looks ... ...thought I might have problems fitting in passengers, however, have manged to fit 5 adults including me into it, complete with weekend luggage! I was pretty amazed, if I am honest, it was a bit tight but it was a shirt journey so no one minded. It has 5 doors too, which makes it easier to get in and out. The boot space isn't huge, but I find I can fit the weekly shop in no problem or a small amount of luggage. If I really need to the back seats fold ...

The leaking daewoo matiz
Advantages: Spacious Disadvantages: It leaked rusty water, lost all power and had clunky gears
From personal experience with the Daewoo Matiz (w Reg) i would not recommend this car. I was insured on this car but it belonged to my brother, and it had faults since we bought it. Maybe it was due to the fact that the car was not new, but even after we carried out repairs on it, the problems remained the same.
Our first problem with the car was the clunky gears, they were hard to move and often got stuck and made weird noises! It was annoying ... ...brother could just cope with considering it was low priced
However, on the way to work one morning, on a 70mph dual carriageway, my brother was driving at 20mph and i told him to put his foot down, but he did, the car just had lost all of its power for no apparent reason. After calling the RAC, we were advised to take it to a garage for a look over, and they told us it was leaking rusty water. So they repaired the part where it was leaking from ...

Daewoo Matiz 798cc se
Advantages: Reliable, drinks little, responsive, 5 doors, will seat four comfotably Disadvantages: Availability of parts, some specialist tools required for servicing/repairs
I've owned my 'Green bean' Matiz for just over two years now and I'm still surprised at the performance from such a small car. Mine is the 798cc model, but despite the engine size, she will happily cruise at motorway speeds with the whole family on board.
Leg room is the best in any small car I've tried (and when you are 6'3, you tend to notice these things!). Highly economical & recommended as a good 'fun' car too.
The only minuses are : 1. No ...

A great car
Advantages: Good size Disadvantages: Tiny boot, a bit temperemental
Well I get a lot of stick for this car, with several people calling it a matchbox and a noddy car. But I do love the matiz. It's fuel consumption is fantastic;one tank of petrol got me from Nottingham to Edinburgh.
The matiz is very nippy but struggles to go above 30mph when faced with a hill. The car can also be quite sluggish getting up to 70 on the motorway but once it's up to speed it's fantastic.
The car is a very good size (except for the ... ...parking spaces.
My only problems have been the car stalling as soon as I've turned the engine on and more recently it being very tempermental with starting at all if it's being used within the last three hours. At least once a week and try and turn it on and nothing happens at all so i have to leave it for ten minutes until it decides to start.
Apart from that though a fantastic car which has served me well. I'd definately buy another. ...
