Well its been a while but here we go, its time for yet again another review straight from the horses mouth (Note : Im not a horse lol)
Well anyway, me being a first time driver, I wanted something that wouldnt have me out the door with payments for tax and insurance, didnt guzzle petrol like no tomorrow, and was CHEAP.....not to mention a steering wheel and set of four tyres to come in handy I guess...
I first start looking at the nissan micra (no NOT that one, the ones from 00-03 that come equipped with power steering and airbags) but even at THAT I couldnt afford it.....not to mention the fact it reminded me of a BEETLE or some
other insect of some sort.
Then I seen it....
2002 Sunburnt orange Small Cute and Perky Smiling (swear it does!)
Didnt look as if it was housing a 2 litre petrol guzzling engine....
AND..... it even had four tyres AND a steering wheel for a fantastic prize of €3800 (second hand)....I was in AWE!
The Matiz comes with four Large doors that seem quite strange for such a small car, but make getting in and out a breeeeeeze.
*~*My model has :*~*
Alloy Wheels Little circular indicators Power Front Windows Power Passenger Mirror Option for installing Fog Lights Driver and passenger airbags Deadlocks for the doors (ok I admit I didnt know that ..erm whats a deadlock? Im hoping its something good.....right? lol) Rear Split Seats Power Steering Immobiliser Cd Player Power Passenger Mirror Vanity Mirror Little Cute Little Digital Clock On The Dash
Engine -- There is a tiny, three-cylinder, 800cc engine underneath that cute little bonnet -- it is a little nifty fifty and is not as slow as you would think.
0-60mph comes up in 18 seconds and top speed is 86mph - lets be honest its not exactly known for its speed demon status!
Like I said it does pretty good and doesnt feel like a slow car....just smile and think of how little petrol your using too (Note: Im young with no ** "assured means of income" , saving money on petrol means a lot to me) An average of 46 miles to the gallon -- and an impressive 55 mpg in relaxed driving conditions
**assured means of income - have problems holding onto money when I see FOUR very easy distinguisable letters in a windows : S.A.L.E lol
~****~INSIDE THE CAR~****~ The first thing you notice about the matiz is how suprisingly roomy it is inside. The windows are HUGE and the driving height is of great advantage (means Im at ease because I dont feel like I'll end up with a red raw bottom (lets keep it polite :) ) at the end of my journey :)
All the controls are easy to reach and are housed in a lovely little glittery (yes im distracted by shiny surfaces so BEWARE to those as it may be a safety haza.....oooo look a shiny spoon :O lol) dash with simple basic controls and knobs and what not.
The size makes hoovering super easy and quick, while the dash and other bits and bobs are easily cleaned with a cloth - making cleaning a doddle!
The gears I find are really free and just slot into place with ease, other cars Ive drove in have this "no I REFUSE to go into 3rd gear bia*ch attitude! lol)
There is PLENTY of leg room in the back and the front and everything is neat and compact - interior doesnt look shabby too! ;)
Boot space is enough for a weeks shop and the seats can be let down to make more room, Probably a good idea to know inadvance before you go shopping though, unless your friends are the forgiving type when you explain to them that travelling via the roof is a PEEEEERFECTLY "safe means of travel"..while your omega organic eggs and multi-pack biscuits (what?....a girl has to indulge once in a while like! ....besides they were on SALE!) are housed safe and snug in your matiz.
~****~EXTERIOR~****~ The car has SUCH a cute little bonnet, it reminds me of a little lost puppy (I have a very immature photographic memory lol) with HUGE puppy dog lost eyes and a little grin.
Its wheels are tiny and it has an MPV look-like about it. Even from the outside you first notice how tall, slim and narrow it is (then begin to become depressed/jealous as you slowly reach for your multipack biscuits hehe)
~****~ Summary~****~ I wouldnt trade my car for the world, well unless it was ending and it was for means or survival - but other than that !lol The newer model by chevrolet (no longer known as Daewoo) in my opinion, doesnt live up to the old version.
Its a perfect starter car, making learning to drive SUPEREASY! Also if you want something quick, cheap, and nifty to do the shop/school run.
Sure enough when you see the petrol guzzling speed demons speed ahead at the lights. You can proudly smile and perfect your turn as you easily squeeze into the tiniest parking space and gloat and the fancy oversized merc re-circling the parking lot....of course the "gloat" is optional ....now where did I put them biscuits....
