Very economical too just about runs on the smell of petrol ; an despite what you might read in other reviews; it is quite a nippy thing; for instance if you compared it with other brands 1.0 litre cars ; this one is much quicker ; probably due to it's lightness.
And it can hold it's own on open roads and overtakes ok too as long as you plan ahead and give it enough revs; it's quite willing and nips up to 70mph quite smartly. and will hold this speed quite happily on the motorway.
The engine is quite up to this sort of behaviour and very willing to rev through the range; and indeed one thing that did surprise me was the flexibility of the engine; which will pull ; as long as you aren't in a hurry ; from quite low in the rev range ; in fifth gear.
As for the handling it's fine; safe and well able to control the car within it's normal operating speeds; of course if you get silly it will protest and lift a wheel; but it still all hangs together.
The interior is nice enough ; hard wearing and cleans up just fine ; even when ice-cream and other such things have been spilt on it. Yes the seats aren't too thicky padded but there're ok for medium distance travelling ; and if two large people get in the car then they may rub elbows.
There are various cubby holes in the front and rear of the interior for storing bit's and bobs, the boot isn't huge but I have managed to get a weeks shopping for five in it ; as long as we gave thought to the way we packed things.
Going outside again the headlights are bright and give a good spread. The heating system is quick to warm up and well able to heat the car even on a winter's day.
The engine does need more frequent oil changes and a high spec semi/fully synthetic oil ; however 4ltrs will do two oil changes as the volume is quite small ; much like a motorbike engine.
Overall it's a good little car ;cheap to run not too bad at all to drive it's three cylinder thrum makes it much more intersting than other cars and indeed has a character of it's own; it looks good too kind of like a japanese version of the old Mini.
So before you dismiss this wee car; have a try; you might just finding yourself handing over the cash and driving away with a smile.
Advantages: Small, cheap, low tax Disadvantages: Looks and feels too cheap and plasticy
Daihatsu Cuore 1.0
I was unlucky enough to get one of these “things” as a courtesy car while my car was having a service. It has a 3 cylinder engine smaller than 1 litre. Inside the car is plasticy and you feel like you may pull the indicator storks off if you press them too hard. The ride quality is not to good either. It is possible to feel every last little bump you drive over especially if you are a passenger in the back on those ... ...is a joke, it is as if there is only two settings front window or side windows which ever you choose the other will steam up! When you come to pull out onto a fast road the Cuore is so slow it is scary, unless you floor the thing, but who want to floor there brand new car every time they pull out onto a main road. This type of driving won’t do your engine or fuel consumption much good. The spare tyre is a space saver, which is really needed ...

Advantages: cheap to buy and run Disadvantages: underpowered
...Certainly driving this baby Daihatsu is not going to make you heart beat any faster. The engine is less than one litre and unusually in todays market it is three cylinder. Work the engine hard and you'll know up it as it struggles and gets noisy - this is a car best kept in town. The tiny body means that the wheels are close together resulting in a ride that is both uncomfortable and unsettled. The dimuntive length also means room in the back seat ...

Advantages: Very Economical Disadvantages: lack of luggage space
I got my cuore in sept05. I purchased the cuore + 5 door version which came with electric windows and mirrors, power steering and free first service.
I loved the way the car looked and this was part of the reason I purchased it. I much prefer this shape to the old shape cuore which was a lot squarer. and also the new charade which replaces the cuore range is much squarer and feels smaller inside than this model
I brought my car on finance and got ... ...£150 a month for 4 years, paying back a total of £7200. Obviously new cars will lose their value much faster than second had and 4 1/2 years later I was offeres £3500 as part exchange when it had done 36000 miles and had full service history.
While I had my little car I paid £25 a month insurance and a tank of petrol which would cost me around £25 would last for approx 300 miles. I never had any problem in all the time i had it and got an excellent ...

Advantages: Low running costs Disadvantages: Limited space
In some respects this is a perfect car. Group two insurance so even fully comp is accessible. Low tax 847cc engine. You can park in the smallest of spaces.
Though saying that, it doesn't mean that you can open the door enough to get out on 3door version. I must admit the jeers from people take a little getting used to. I used to put it down to the fact that it is unusual.
For a little car it was hard to fault, mine with the added bonus of spoiler ... ...to look at. Fair enough it is slow on hills but recoups really quickly, you just need to learn the car as you would with any other. Fuel economy is also very good.
From my experence though this car is not made for distance driving, it is ment for nipping around town centres, though performs exellently on a run. The comfortless interior relects this. The boot though small is adequate, and ample for shopping trips
I found it an ideal car when I'd ...

...pleasure (?!) of driving a Daihatsu Cuore. The only positive thing I have to say about the car is that it is relatively inexpensive in comparison to other cars in its class, both to run and to buy.
Now the negatives; It is not a drivers car- if you enjoy driving then this will spoil your enjoyment.
Its safety record is abysmal- when driving this car the slightest breath of wind can knock you sideways which is a very frightening experience. Also, ...

Any way, whilst taking my car (a Skoda Fabia) for its annual service to our local dealer, we discovered that they are also a dealer for Daihatsu, whereupon we came across the Daihatsu Materia.
We fell in love with it straight away, as we must admit that we could not remember seeing one on the road before. We loved it so much we bought it. Read on to find out why.

Advantages: Very cheap to buy and run Disadvantages: Looks and feels cut-price
Value
You're buying basic here - five doors and four wheels; EX does have a folding rear seat and a clock, and GX boasts rear wash/wipe; two-year/24,000 mile warranty isn't too stingy, though.
Costs
Cheap, cheap, cheap... Over 50 mpg in normal use, low service costs, reasonable resale value - only other ultra-cheapies like Cuore, cinquecento and Suzuki Alto can come close.
Reliability
Based on the reliable old Daihatsu Mira, so components are well proven; Malaysian build quality looks OK, too.
Driving
Initially entertaining when buzzing around town but the novelty soon wears off - there's lots of noise and the ride is jogging; completely out of its class on fast A-roads or on the motorway.
Performance
Engine makes a sporty sound and likes being revved hard; but it's manic above 70 ...
