Advantages Advantages Cheapest people carrier on the market

Disadvantages Disadvantages Rear two seatbelts are not the inertia type

I'm on my third Hijet MPV. (My first one was inexplicably stolen, much to the hilarity of my friends!) We had only owned it a few weeks, but felt pretty lost without it. We now have an immobiliser. I love our present one, and according to my local dealer, there are no plans to discontinue making them. My latest one was bought from brand new and it is a bi-fuel model. This means it runs on either petrol or LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). You just flick a switch to swap between fuels. I use LPG mostly, but keep petrol for back up in case I'm far from an LPG station, which doesn't often happen ... more

This vehicle has some good points and very bad points!!! The bad come as results in changes to the law so for those only interested in the bad points scroll down to the updates. ***************************************** ********************** ********************************************* ****************************** **** People laugh at us in our little mpv, but we like it....not the laughing, the vehicle! We bought it 5 years ago when it was two years old. It has no rust but has had most mechanical parts replaced. I don't think this is down to the vehicle, we either have a dud one or it's ... more

I bought an R Reg Hijet, just over a month ago. Was a little wary, as it looked, initialy, like a 10 pack cigarrette box (sideways on) with wheels and windows. It had the tiniest wheels I have ever seen on a 'car' (mpv), those being 12", mine does not have the luxury of power steering, but once you get going, it's very easy to turn. It is a 933cc, get around 35 to a gallon of petrol on Motorways (60mph), or around 30 in city traffic. I've had it up to 75, with still some push left in it, I feel it could do 80/85 mph. Gets rather noisy over 60mph, with the diff at the back, whining louder and ... more

Advantages Advantages loads of room for 5 passengers (or 3 passengers and a couple of bikes)

    Disadvantages Disadvantages no street cred

The HiJet mpv is an amazing little machine. I bought my first one in 1996, and replaced this with a new one last year (cost just about £8000). Why? Because it can park in the same space as the old mini, but it can carry up to 5 adult passengers (and a week's shopping)! It is very manoeverable (the turning circle is tighter than that of a mini), and adaptable (the rear passenger seat folds, giving space to carry, for example, 2 cycles). Comfort-wise, it is fairly basic, by modern standards, but there is no problem with legroom. My new 1.3 version is a bit nippier than the old 1.0, but it is ... more

How much is the tax now?

Hi, I was wondering how much the tax would be if you'd know roughly, on a Daihatsu Hijet 01 plate van, as I'm not sure when a review was written about it being band G and possibly reaching £400? I currently own a Vauxhall Astra van and it's around £140 and not sure whether the Hijet should/would be more or less??
