Daihatsu Move

Welcome to my review for the Daihatsu Move SGX.
If you're wondering why i am able to write reviews on so many different cars, its simple......

I've worked in the Car auction and Car hire business, so have driven too many cars to mention.

Ciao suggests being factual, so i'll use headings, and be as easy to understand as possible.

Reliability
These cars have good all round reliability, and servicing and parts are cheap.Nothing major to report apart from some issues with trim panels being a bit flimsy

Safety
The Move is well specced with ABS and airbags.However, it is a tall and short vehicle and can feel a bit topply when attacking corners with gusto.Its really a case of accepting that its no Golf GTI, and realising that it is actually quite a capable wee car.

Spaciousness
For such a short and narrow car, the actual passenger compartment is very large.This is obviously due to it's tall profile which also endows it with great headroom (even for people even up to 6ft 6).Being tall also makes it great for lugging the occasional bookcase or cabinet:-)

Comfort
Bearing in mind that the Move is a small, cheap car, it is suprisingly comfortable.The cabin is light and airy,and fairly well screwed together (see reliability).This car, however, is not really suitable for frequent long distance motorway journeys-The engine and wind noise can get rather tiresome.

Handling
Its short, narrow and tall, so dont expect formula 1 stylee handling.Its competent as long as not pushed too far.Suspension soaks up most of the bumps well.

Customer Service
I have only ever experienced these cars in an employment capacity, so cant really comment on their dealers.

Security/Looks
Lets face it, the Move is a Box on wheels.Not exactly pretty, but not as bad as say a Daewoo Matiz.
Two tone paint helps break up the slab sides.
The move also has good security with an immobiliser supplied as standard, plus a relatively anonymous presence.

Features/Fuel Consumption
Because the daihatsu brand is not too popular, they have a tendancy to make their vehicles high specced to increase sales.Certainly the Move is no exception-power windows, power steering, air con, central locking and ABS are all standard.
Only real problem is the depreciation-its high!This ,however is good for 2nd hand buyers as there are bargains to be had!
The engine is extremely frugal and can easily achieve 50mpg on a run.
