When you think about it, The Daily Mirror, or 'The Mirror' as we refer to it in this house, is a great title for this paper, because it is a reflection of yourself. Not literally, obviously, but in... more

Advantages Advantages News, Entertainment, Features, Price

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes lacks depth, sometimes has too much of one thing (e.g.Big Brother!)

The Mirror is, as you know a newspaper. Sort of a cross between The Sun and The Guardian? It takes the tabloid-ness of papers like The Sun and The Star, along with the political aspects of The Guardian and churns them about to produce one of Britain’s best selling ‘Red Top’ tabloid dailies. The most obvious difference noticed between Mirror and the other two main Red Tops is that there are no Page 3 models featured in The Mirror. Good? Bad? Well that’s up to you to decide! I’m a Mirror buyer for a number of reasons. I like the political balance of the paper ... more

Advantages Advantages Great, easily digestable read

Disadvantages Disadvantages One new story sometims takes up half the paper, lots of ads

I have been reading the Mirror for years. It is a great paper, especially on Fridays. The reason for this is that on Fridays there is the excellent "Carol@Mirror" section, which is a 4-page section all about the Internet and computing, written by TV presenter Carol Vorderman. Also, the motors section, written by Quentin Wilson, is on a Friday and this is always excellent. The entertainmen gossip section is always good too. One of the things which annoys me about the mirror is that when there's a big news story, such as the recent one involving Euan Blair, about half the paper is always taken ... more

    Advantages Advantages none

Disadvantages Disadvantages not worth the money, not worth the paper its printed on, one sided, blinkered, biased

I had the very unfortuanate happening of reading the Mirror the other day and never have I read such one sided pro Labour complete drivel in all my life. This newspaper isnt worth the paper its written on it is complete and utter junk. If your into one sided pro Labour drivel then by all means go ahead and read this useless paper, I myself will never insult myself as to be seen with a copy of this garbage ever again. I can see why the Sun (my usual paper) is way way way ahead of the Mirror in the official reading figures. The Sun may also be against my political beliefs in that it supports ... more

Advantages Advantages Lots of features and supplements

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes goes over the top

The Daily mirror is a “working class” newspaper that is in the gap between the likes of The Sun, and papers like The Mail and The Express. There is a mix of light-hearted, serious and political stories. The average length of the paper is around 50 pages, with around 7-12 pages of adverts daily. Every day features include: Voice of the Mirror – The Mirror gives it’s verdict on some of the days stories. Tom Johnston Cartoons – Humorous cartoon’s on some of the stories of the day. Stars by Jonathon Cainer - One page on your stars for the day ahead. 3am – ... more

    Advantages Advantages good supplements

Disadvantages Disadvantages some very inaccurate reporting, very one sided

I've been reading the mirror for several years now and I have to say that they have some good points and a lot of bad. On the good side some of their regular columnists provide some humourous looks at the news. Judge Jacobs legal advice page is always honest regardless of which side is right. Charlie Catchpole as well always has some comedic gems in his TV review section. But sadly their bad points far outweigh the good. Their showbiz gossip column 3AM is frankly so full of complete and utter bitterness and nasty jibes that it has no right to call itself journalism. Tis page seems to take ... more
