You play a charcter called Hamilton Rourke in third person. He's a member of a rebel gang in 19th century America, during which time steam-powered robots and technological weapons were introduced. The story goes that an industrialist named Prescott has control of the country thanks to these robots and his soldiers. He's obviously evil so you are to be the good guy and take back the country and get rid of him! The story line is a little predictable and the game itself is a little repetative. Not good if you like action and boredom tends to kick in easily! Throughout you basically jump along buildings, slide up and dowm buildings and run through scenes shooting whatever comes along. But most of the buildings have already seen much destruction mking it hard to get over them. As well as this most have fallen down or will fall before or as you get near to them! Making you move around more but rarther pointless really! The pace is rather slow and with this element the game can be awkward and rather frustrating in parts. But movements in the game can be rather fascinating as you can pull off some inpressive backflips and with a simple two-button combination you can try bouncing off a wall or fly through the air backwards, flipping around and grabbing a ledge! But as i said the building do not bode well for the stunts you are able to perform. If you have ever used a shooting gallery or played a duck shooting game at a carnival then you will master this game easily. Your enemies simply stand still shooting at you! Or occasionally move in and out of sheltered areas then shoot at you. Nevertheless this game is not enjoyable. Most of the time you will get so annoyed you'll give yourself in and simply withstand enemy fire! Visually the game lacks style and graphics you would expect to see in more recent games. Scenes have the tendancy to stick or jump. Graphics are rather blurred with unimpressive textures and as for the special effects, i think the animation department were on strike when this game was created! It makes no sense when an enemie's head explodes into a shower of blood and debris but after the gore clears you still see an intact skull!?! Visually the scripting is rather poor with a dull voice-over. The sound effects used for the shooting is rather tinny and reminds me of the sound effects you would expect to hear in a really old western movie, rather unrealstic when you are shooting with a technologically advanced weapon. I was so unimpressed with this game i didnt bother with multiplayer. (though i assume the multiplayer is ok as there is that option!) I thought why sit through more boredom just for the sake of playing this game with some one else?!! I give it a mere 3.5 out of 10 for trying to be something!
