Advantages Nice for making butties or just as a meal.
Disadvantages None.
I like bacon butties, they are so delicious and I can practically eat them at any time of the day. Bacon is a food that goes down really well in my home, my hubby eats it like it all the time and a cooked breakfast on a weekend has always been a meal we almost never miss as it always helps to kick start the weekend.
Bacon has gone up in price in my opinion in recent years. For the amount of slices in a packet of bacon for the price is appalling sometimes. So recently I have been stocking up on this bacon because it has been on special offer at Sainsbury’s. For a pack of 10 slices it is priced at just £2, the usual price is £4 so a half price bargain is absolutely a must buy for me to stock. The bacon comes in a transparent, plastic packet. The plastic seal at the top of the packet is easy to open too. There is a picture of a woman eating a bacon sarnie on the front with her eyes wide open lol. The bacon is a nice pale brown colour, the usual colour of bacon and it looks really nice and lean inside the packet and not all dark coloured as I have often seen some brands. Danish bacon has been around for a lot of years and is a very reliable one in my opinion.
The bacon slices are a very good size too and measure approximately 8 inches in length and around 3 inches in width. These slices do not have a lot of fat around the edges, there is only a small amount and so it means that there is more bacon than fat. Some bacon slices have a lot of fat in the middle of the slices but that is not the case with these ones. I have only found a few slices to have a small amount of fat in the centre but nothing that is a problem. The slices are quite thick too, they are not too thin and the slices do not break while taking them out of the packet, it means that each slice can be placed into a frying pan or under a grill. I prefer to grill my bacon so it is much healthier but I have cooked it via the frying method. They take only around 5 minutes or so to cook on each side and the colour of them once cooked turns into a lovely brown colour and they look very appetising. Depending on how crispy you prefer the bacon to be cooked depends on the time it needs on each side, I do not like my bacon too crispy so I just cook it the 5 minutes each side and that is well enough time to completely cook the bacon for my liking. It also does not shrink too much as some others I have bought, this one only shrinks a small amount and so the slices remain almost the same size when cooked as they were before cooking them, which is a bonus.
This bacon is unsmoked and so it does taste really nice, it is very lean and it is not too salty, it does have a little salty taste to it but not one that has that tingly feeling that I find happens when I eat a more salty bacon. This one has just the right amount of the salt for my taste buds. It does not taste at all bland and has an excellent taste, the bacon is not a hard texture once cooked and it is very easy to cut and to chew and swallow. It does have a really nice taste and is very filling eaten either with bread for a sarnie or with eggs etc for a cooked brekkie.
