Advantages: A very good cheap DVD player Disadvantages: A bit to wide
...Firstly I have had to put this opinion in the 852 category as there isn't one for the 952, I thought I would point this out at the beginning. The Dansai 950 is a very practical cheap priced DVD player mine cost me £99.00, I have previously had more expensive machines which seem to behave like primadonas and break down at the drop of a hat,They are also very hard to hack for multi region, unlike the dansai I found a multi region hack very easily on the web and after pushing 4 buttons on the remote it was done (I now buy all my films from America) I have had this player for over a year and it is still going strong.
The 952 has all the goodies you expect from the more expensive players.
5:1 Dolby surround sound.
Scart socket.
S.video socket.
Optical line out socket,(to record digital sound to a minidisk recorder or Mp3 recorder).

Advantages: Cheap, reliable Disadvantages: Not a brand name
...If your looking for a cheap, budget type DVD player, or just want to get in on the DVD market, then I might have got the answer for you. So I went searching, hoping to spend below £130. I found the Dansai player for £99 in Tesco’s in Newton Abbot, Devon. I didn’t buy it there and then, I went looking, but couldn’t find anything to match this price...

Advantages: Very good value for price and functions, Buttons on remote glows in dark! Disadvantages: Most controls/function must use remote, which is fine unless you break/lose your remote.
...remote press "setup" to finish hack
I have tested this on mine on region 1 and 4, which works fine, so I'm assuming region 3 will work. Also if you unplug to move you shouldn't have to repeat the above. So, now it's an even better dvd player with all regions at that price!
Plays everything ive chucked at it, svcds ive made, vcds ive made,on all brands and unbranded media, dvdrs ive made, and imports from malaysia. I only bought it because it was cheap, but this is a great DVD player. If your looking for a good cheap player but don't want to pay a fortune (for 5.1.) then i would highly recommend the Dansai DVD955.
I only have one gripe about this player. My remote only works when pointed directly at player. But my friend has the same player and says his doesn't have this problem. So maybe this is an individual case.
I have heard...
