I only have one gripe about this player. My remote only works when pointed directly at player. But my friend has the same player and says his doesn't have this problem. So maybe this is an individual case.

Advantages: Very good value for price and functions, Buttons on remote glows in dark! Disadvantages: Most controls/function must use remote, which is fine unless you break/lose your remote.

£59.99 from Tesco with 3dvd, includes A Perfect Storm (George Clooney), Space Jam, (Bugs Bunny & Michael Jordan) and Friends Series & Ep 1-4 extended version on double sided dvd.
This player will play; CD, CDR, CDRW DVD R2(regions code free with remote, see below), DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, VCD, SVCD, MP3 VBR, MP3 longfile name support Kodak Picture CD/JPG image support MPEG1/2 ISO, plays MPEG1/MPEG2 files with no authoring
This is sold as a Region 2 dvd player. There is a simple hack that will allow you to play all regions. Details as follows; turn on using remote open draw using remote press "setup" go to custom setup using remote cursors press number "3" four times (may need to repeat this until) region codes come up using remote cursors light up what code you want "0" using remote press "enter" using remote press "setup" to finish hack
I have tested this on mine on region 1 and 4, which works fine, so I'm assuming region 3 will work. Also if you unplug to move you shouldn't have to repeat the above. So, now it's an even better dvd player with all regions at that price!
Plays everything ive chucked at it, svcds ive made, vcds ive made,on all brands and unbranded media, dvdrs ive made, and imports from malaysia. I only bought it because it was cheap, but this is a great DVD player. If your looking for a good cheap player but don't want to pay a fortune (for 5.1.) then i would highly recommend the Dansai DVD955.

Advantages: looks good and easy to use Disadvantages: none
I was wanting a D.V.D player as my video had went on the blink so i went and had a look.I went to all the big electrical stores but they were wanting hundreds of pounds for one, which i can not afford. So i left the shops quite disappointed and decided not to bother.
The following week i was in my local Tesco store and noticed they had one for 59.99 a bargain i thought. So of i went to the checkout to purchase my newest toy and took it home.

... ...with 2 circular dials with the play buttons etc,it also has remote control in a silver design as well.It is the ideal size to fit in the smallest of shelves if you have a storage problem.Looks a lot more expensive than it was.
*PRICE*
As i have already mentioned it is 59.99 from tescos and does all the same functions as the more expensive ones,as long as it plays the D.V.D's thats the main point in getting one isn't it?It also plays C.D's as well.

...Tale".
I purchased a Dansai DVD1010 prior to this one, and although it had all the same functions as the 955, it lacked analogue 5:1 output (which I already owned a 5:1 analogue speaker setup). So I returned the DVD1010 to Tesco & exchanged it for the 955.
The 955 is of a much higher build quality than the DVD1010, especially in respect to the actual DVD drawer unit. Also a clear and concise LCD display is present on the 955 (which is missing from ... ...of a much higher quality than the 1010, and also works from various angles (unlike the 1010 which requires a direct straight line of sight).
I did notice that a previous commenter, mentioned that the 955 plays back MPG1/MPG2 ISO & non-authored MPG1/2. This is not correct (unless a newer firmware is available), and although not a criticism, the 955 will only playback MPG footage that is either in VCD/SVCD/DVD/KVCD/XSVCD folder layout on the media ...
