Advantages: cooling, soothing, works well on dry skin, natural ingredients Disadvantages: none
I first purchased myself a tube of Holland & Barrett Aloe Vera Gel upon the recommendation of a work colleague who was suffering from eczema. I was just suffering from patches of dry skin, but thought it worth a go, as I didn't want to irritate it with my usual perfumed body creams.
It can be purchased for a little over £5 for 200ml (current offer is 2 bottles for £7.48, but there are often offers on on this product) It is marketed as a Bio Active Skin Treatment, and is 100% pure. The bottle states that the gel can 'soothe, moisturise soften dry skin, and can be applied to stretch marks, dry or chapped skin and skin irritations'. So, a pretty versatile treatment then!
The gel itself is clear and relatively odourless. It also feels cool to the touch - it's great on burns and sunburn! It's easily to apply and absorbs quickly ...
Advantages: great, cooling, healing gel Disadvantages: may be slightly expensive if you don't buy it as part of a "deal"
I have found that the pure aloe vera gel in this product is very helpful with minor burns of all types. My sister said it was very soothing and helped heal her sunburn much quicker than other products which may be more oily. If you have problem skin then this is a better bet than oily products. I have used aloe vera gel on small burns that I've gotten in the kitchen, and it stops the blister from forming and sooths and heals the skin. Just keep reapplying whenever the burn heats up.
The gel shouldn't irritate your skin at all.
The bottle it comes in has a pump dispenser top and is a large size. The bottle I have has lasted a year already, and i still have enough left. This gel is also great on any irritated skin (eg- after epilating or shaving), it has never stung me.
The smell is very green and fresh and I like it, although ...
I recieved a small 2ml sample tube of this product with an order of another beauty related product. I had no idea what it could be, though it smelled very nice and relaxing when I took a whiff. With a quick google search I realised what its use was; (no, it wasn't some sort of essential oil type product) it was infact a face cream. The instructions were to apply a few drops morning and night and massage into the face. The product promised to reduce redness and soothe skin.
Well this all sounded very nice, but I was somewhat sceptical. I suffer from redness and blotchy skin across my cheeks and spend a fortune on a variety of concealers and foundations to mask it for nights out, I simply refused to believe a nice smelling oil could be the answer!
As directed, I smoothed the oil into my face, morning and night untill the sample was ...
