thinking is a fine primer for the undergraduate or the generally uninitiated. It builds and extends on the information in the best-selling Introducing Postmodernism. By declaring the death of God, the greatest of the grand narratives-- stories which we tell to orient ourselves in the world and explain its machinations--Nietzsche believed humanity would be plunged into a valueless, nihilistic abyss. Postmodernism's radical doubt thus traces its genealogy back to the poetry and aphorisms of an anti-philosopher only recently rehabilitated, rescued from earlier racist misreadings by his association with the thought of Foucault, Derrida, Lyotard and the rest of the French school. In a number of short, pithy paragraphs Robinson steers a course through Nietzche's invigorating, if contradictory, ouevre and explains how the previously reviled thinker has come to have such a central place in modern thought. --Mark Thwaite
Advantages: Funny, warped, compelling Disadvantages: Should have gone for 108 Daves
...Are YOU Dave Gorman? If so, chances are you've heard of this book, in fact you may be in it. For the rest of you it may need some explaining. Stand-up comedian, Dave Gorman and his flat-mate, journalist Danny Wallace are the authors. It's their story of trying to find 54 other people called Dave Gorman.
Now, why would someone want to find one person with their own name let alone 54? Three reasons: male stupidity, a bet and, most importantly, tequila.
During a late night session in their local, Dave and Danny have an argument over the fact that there must be loads of other people with the name Dave Gorman. The words, "wanna bet," are uttered and they wake to find themselves on a train to Scotland.
Dave had heard of a namesake who was assistant manager at East Fife FC; fortunately they were at home. Following a dismal match...

Advantages: Very Funny and well written. Disadvantages: You will try and find a googlewhack !
...This book is a fantastic insight into the mind of Dave Gorman. Following on from his legendary "Are you Dave Gorman? " book, Dave embarks on yet another mental mission.
This time he is trying to string together ten Googlewhacks in a row. Googlewhacking is played with the internet search engine of choice, Google. In order to play this game, you have to enter two words into Google with the aim to just get 1 single result returned, that being 1 page from the 4 billion that Google searches!. Dave managed to find 2 Googlewhacks, convinced them to find 2, and then decided that he had to get a string of ten before his 32nd Birthday !
I saw Dave live in Manchester, telling this story, and it was just as good as the book !
A fantastic read, buy it today !...

Advantages: Very touching biography Disadvantages: Sometimes it can get to intimadating to read
...I really enjoyed reading this book - in fact I have really enjoyed reading all of Dave Pelzer's books, I find it facsinating how someone who's been through so much can bounce back and tell the world about his life.
This book goes into great depth of the abuse Dave had as a child it brings tears to your eyes to think that a mother could do something so gruesome and unhuman like to their own son.
I find it truly comforting that Dave can speak of his abuse, I have read quite a few biographies where the authors have been abused but Dave Pelzers biographies are by far the very best.
I would seriously reccommend this book to anyone that is interested in biographies....
