I had my bike purchased from Daves cycles as a gift of my parents for when I started university, and unlike many of my friends my bike is still running! I haven't needed any major repairs, only had it serviced twice in the 3 or so years I've had it now. And I only needed to replace the bike seat because someone stole it!
I recently went back to Dave's Cycles to get a helmet, drinks bottle and holder, and a pair of sunglasses. The service was excellent and was very quick, I had got everything I wanted within about 10 mins. All for a modest price, £15 for a nice helmet, £30 for sunglasses with changeable lenses, and £4 for drinks bottle holder and £3 for drinks bottle. You can probably find cheaper on the internet but its much more convenient to shop locally. There is a good amount of staff manning the shop, about 5 or 6 people when I went in. The shop itself is quite large and very well stocked, I was amazed at how many bikes that they had outside the front of the shop.
I have had Dave's Cycles recommended to me, and I would recommend it to anyone else looking for a local bike shop.
