As I am a bit of a perfume junkie most of my family and friends bought me a bottle of perfume or a perfume gift set for Christmas. My lovely mum bought me three different perfumes and Intimately Beckham for her was one of them. I had seen Intimately Beckham for her advertised on the TV just before Christmas and quite liked the look of it, especially the packaging because it was nice and pink. So when I unwrapped the present mum got me for Christmas I was quite pleased with the perfume she had chosen for me.
Packaging
Intimately Beckham for her was a part of a gift set so it was packaged inside a lovely square box, with a lid. The box is a really light baby pink in colour and looks so pretty and feminine. The box doesn't have very many decorative details on it, so it looks very simplistic and plain. It has Intimately Beckham written in gold metallic lettering, and at the bottom of the box it tells you that the perfume inside is a 30ml bottle of eau de toilette accompanied with a 150 ml bottle of Intimately Beckham silky
body wash. I think the clever use of design makes the box itself look very sophisticated and elegant without looking overly fussy. Usually when I go into Boots looking for a new scent I pick the one which has the brightest, boldest packaging or the nicest looking bottle because it stands out more from the rest.
The Bottle
The perfume bottle has a simplistic design to match the packaging which also gives the bottle an elegant and sophisticated design. The bottle is made from clear glass and is filled with baby pink coloured perfume similar to the colour of the box. It is quite a small bottle so it fits nicely inside my bag without taking up too much room, so it's the perfect perfume to carry about with me. What I really like about the bottle is the fact that it is small and has a very symmetrical square shape to it and the lid has the same symmetrical square shape as the bottle. The perfume bottle has a gold metallic spray top which again matches the gold coloured lettering on the box. So the design of the packaging and the perfume bottle all tie in with one another and making it look really pretty and feminine.
The Scent
I would describe Intimately Beckham as being a light, sweet, fruity fragrance which has a subtle hint of musk. The perfume doesn't smell really strong and floral when I am wearing it and I have had a few compliments about it and people asking me what perfume I am wearing.
When I first sprayed this perfume onto my wrist it smelled quite strong and musky and I automatically thought that it was going to be another perfume on my "Don't use or buy again list". After about 10 minutes of spraying the perfume it had settled down an awful lot and didn't smell as strong and musky, it smelled a lot sweeter, lighter and more subtle, and I could smell a subtle hint of vanilla accompanied by musk. Although the perfume smells musky, it isn't as deep and musky smelling as Soft Musk perfume. It is a subtle musky scent and the vanilla makes it smell feminine and sweet without being overpowering and strong like musk based perfumes usually smell.
Intimately Beckham for her Eau de toilette is described as having ~
Top notes of Bergamot and Rose petals The top notes are scents you can smell as soon as the perfume has been applied. The first smell will normally be the alcohol content of the fragrance which evaporates quickly. The op notes are normally a lot lighter than the other notes which are used to make up the fragrance.
Middle notes of Casablanca lily, sublime tuberose and orange blossom The middle notes are known as the heart of the fragrance and the other notes centre on this layer. The middle notes define the character of the fragrance as it's normally this layer that settles on the skin.
Base notes of vanilla, sandalwood and musk. The base notes provide a base for the middle notes to linger on. The base notes determine how long a fragrance lasts. As there are only a few notes that last long, the majority of fragrances use the same base notes. The base notes are the ones which last longer than the middle and top notes.
Intimately Beckham is an eau De Toilette and is one of the most commonly bought perfumes because it is cheaper to buy than an Eau De Parfum, although it doesn't have as good a staying power as Eau DeParfum because it is less concentrated and has a fragrance concentration of up to 14%.
The perfume smells lovely and subtle; I think that it is a flexible perfume which can be worn for any occasion it is just down to the wearers own personal preference. I have worn the fragrance during the day as a casual perfume and also at night time when I went out clubbing and it suited both occasions well.
The scent has good staying power although it didn't last as long as I would have hoped for. The fragrance lasted for about 5 hours on my skin before I needed to top it up again in order for it to smell stronger. The perfume may in fact last a shorter or longer amount of time on a different person because everyone has different oils in their skin, and this usually determines how long a scent will last on you.
Body Wash
The body wash is in a pink tube with a flip style lid and has the same feminine pink and gold colouring as the perfume bottle and the packaging, so it's all matching. The body wash is a thick gel which has a subtle hint of pink colouring and smells almost identical to the perfume, the only difference is that the body was has a more delicate and subtle fragrance.
If you layer the Intimately Beckham body wash and the perfume you will find that this gives the perfume more staying power. I found that when I did this that the scent of the perfume lasted almost 2 hours longer due to the fact that it had the body wash to layer its self on to.
Perfume Information
If you read my last perfume review you can skip this paragraph All perfumes smell slightly different on different people, and this is due to us having different oils in our skin. The staying power of a scent also differs from person to person because we have different types of skin oils too. I said in the review that this perfume lasts for about three or four hours on me, but it could last a longer or shorter amount of time on you.
If you like the sound of this perfume then I advise that you go into your local perfume store and test it before you buy it. When testing the scent spray it onto your wrist and wear it for a few hours before you decide whether you like it or not, because the scent changes the longer you wear it due to the different notes which make up the fragrance.
When testing a perfume don't smell the scent on a perfume card because it might smell lovely on the card and when you buy it and wear it at home it might smell totally different and you might not like the scent you are wearing.
Price and Availability
I received Intimately Beckham as a Christmas gift from my mum so I am unsure of where and how much she paid for it. I expect she possibly got it from either boots or body care and paid in the region of £18-22 for it.
I did a search on Yahoo to find some prices for the fragrance and found the following ~
well, i definitely will ask you if I buy a new perfume! I am still using "Amor Amor" from Cacharel, because I am scared of trying any other and find it smells awful on me ! Lol Great review E

Good review, nice use of (the limited) formatting (despite the fact the formatting goes to hell in a handcart if you try to print the review!) and some good detail. Personally, I can't think of a reason why I'd pick a perfume for the love of my life that was endorsed by a (male) footballer... but I guess that's just me.
