Advantages: An insight into real life, empathy, sympathy, pride Disadvantages: Sometimes true stories can be repetitive, but that is their nature
...This is the heart wrenching story of a little boy who lost his way in life because of an alcoholic mother, an absent father and an aggressive step-father. His mother abused him after many of her regular drinking binges, his father emigrated after marrying a new woman and his step-father used him as a punch bag due to his own frustrations. The book does show a happy ending though, where he has made a life for himself and used his talents to better his future. In the beginning, as a reader, you feel sympathy for this little boy but by the end you beam with pride for the triumph in his life....
