Advantages: It's David Eddings
Disadvantages: Just like the other books, he's done it all before

...only better. Substitute the book for the orb or the rose, even the gathering of stalwart comrades. The Belgariad, Mallorean, Elenium and Tamuli series were far superior to this offering. I have not read many books that made you care about the characters, could make you laugh and bring you close to tears, but Eddings achieved this in his earlier books. He failed miserably with this book, and I struggled to complete it. If you've read and enjoyed other books by David Eddings then you'll probably enjoy this one, but don't waste your money. Borrow it from a library or a friend. If you've never read anything by David Eddings then get the Belgariad or the Elenium. They are infintely better.... Read review

Advantages: It's Elmer

...***The Author*** David McKee is well known amongst parents because of the Elmer series, but a few of you probably aren't aware that he also created Mr Benn and King Rollo. I may have lost some of the younger readers of this now, but if so, just mention them to your parents and I'm sure they will explain how big they were in the 70s. Elmer is a colourful patchwork elephant who lives in the jungle with his black and white cousin Wilbur and a lot of other grey elephants. ***The Story*** This Elmer story starts by introducing us to Rose who is a pink elephant. "A young friend of Elmer's named Rose Blushes from her head to her toes, Or sometimes instead From her toes to her head But never from her tail to her nose." Advantages: Fantasy is great in this trilogy
Disadvantages: gets a bit repetitive with the theme
