Advantages: fills in a lot of gaps Disadvantages: some weaker stories
...Galactic North is a companion pice for Reynolds Inhibitors series. It takes the storyline from the near future all the way to 25 thousand years hence.
The book takes the form of a set of short stories, some spooky, such as Nightingale which is the exploration of a 'ghost' ship to deep time with Galactic North, which is the flag ship of the book.
Galactic North itself is the reason why many Reynolds fans will want this book as it explains the rather week ending of Absolution Gap and gives the readers a sense of mankinds ultimate destiny within Reynolds universe.
Overall the book is an invaluable read for any fans of Reynolds, some stories are obviously weaker, some give the reader exactly what they are looking for....

Advantages: Wonderful characters, story, humour Disadvantages: You'll laugh out load, so dont read in public
...David Eddings is by far my favourite author, and he has written some excellent series over the years, but the best in my opinion has to be his first, the Belgariad. Enchanters End Game is the fifth and final in the series. Garion has finally been crowned as Overlord of the West, but still has to face the final show down with Torak. Whilst back home Ce'Nedra leads the armies of the West against Toraks hoards. The usual much loved characters feature, and there is still the wonderful humour that is one of the reasons I like Eddings so much. Whereas would you find such wonderful characters as the slippery Silk? If you like fantasy, you must read Eddings and the Belgariad. And if you have never read fantasy, it was this series that got me hooked!...

Advantages: Sumptuous design, superb images and a great little companion to the movie Disadvantages: Occasionally incomprehensible text, Star Wars fans won't have a clue what any of it means...and it might give away plot details if you haven't seen the film yet
...for any Star Wars fan. The layout is superb, and the whole thing looks excellent and very professional, as you would expect from a Dorling Kindersley title. If nothing else, it is delightful eye candy and full of wondrous curiosities...It makes an ideal coffee table book, and I'm sure kids would love to look through it too. It is written by Dr. DavidWestReynolds, an author who has written several Star Wars books and aims to make science "accessible to the masses". Thankfully there is very little science in here (unless of course, that is all the stuff I can't understand....), but the book is well written, even if not exactly "accessible to the masses".
Unless, of course, everyone else here knows what a quasi-ambulatory plant-wad is? No, I didn't think so....but any ideas would be much appreciated..
RRP £12-99, but on Amazon you can buy...
