I have tried using many different types of wax and creams for my hair. Such as Shock waves, fructis amongst others. The only wax that I have found to keep my hair in place and lock out moisture. It is essential that the product is used on short hair as it gives you a shiny waxy look; this would not be suitable for long hair, smoothstyles or that dry look that you might get with a putty. This product is only meant to be used on dry hair. I think that it is best to but on hair that has just been dried of you leave your hair to cool, it hurts a little to place the wax in your hair (don't forget pain in beauty) This tin contains 3.5 oz or 99gm of wax. It comes in a round tin, which the lid is a little hard to get off. The packaging is a little dated but simple. I feel that the packaging does not reflect the contents of the tin. Anyway once you get it off it reveals what I can only describe as wonder wax. It is yellow in colour, similar colour to Vaseline. In fact it feels like Vaseline except it is thicker and sets harder. The wax also smells pretty good too. It does not smell like anything that I have smelled before, maybe al little perfumy sort of smell, this smell is also transferred to you hair.
Once you put you fingers in, I suppose you are caught, it sticks to you hands like feathers to tar. I know this does not sound very attractive, but I think that you need to think of how your hair will look in the final result not the application and the getting it out. Do you think that celebrities look good all the time and don't spend much time preparing themselves for the cameras, I don't think so? We all need to look after ourselves anyway, and when you look good you also feel good, in my opinion anyway.
I have also found that the wax is waterproof and will not let moisture get in. This is ideal if you use straightening irons on your hair because it is frizzy, wavy or curly. As most of you with this hair type will know once a bit of rain, fog or damp touches your hair, poof you look like a poodle. As I mentioned before this item is waterproof so is hard to get out of your hair or off your fingers. I recommend dax shampoo to remove it from your hair (I have written a review on this if you would like to take a look). I find that the best way to get it off your fingers is to run them under a warm tap (careful not to burn yourself). The wax turns very soft and you can easily get it off with a towel but it is no good simply trying to use soap.
My hair is short and spiky and a little wavy too. I find that this keeps my hair straight and where I left it, it does not flop or rekindle its wave, it leaves my hair looking good all night and sometimes I do not have to do it in the morning, it is usually looks how it looked when I went to bed.
Now instead of placing the wax on your hair everyday, I recommend just blowing a hot hair dryer over your hair, which loosens the wax, this enables you to re-work the wax that is on your hair. You might have to re-apply some to the back our your head as I find it flattens due to sleeping on it. Through doing this you do not have to keep re-applying it and it will not build up on your hair, therefore it is easier to get out when it comes to washing it. It will also save you money as you will not have to use as much shampoo to get it out of your hair
The wax can be bought for £3.98 in ASDA. I have managed to get it for £1.75 in Wilkinson's; which is a bargain. Boots also do it but it is around £4.50 in there so try Wilkinson's first.
I love this product and recommend it to anyone who has short hair, wants to keep it in place and look good and have their hair smell nice at the same time. But don't forget your hair needs to be dry and short.
