...that is original these days. DeKok (known as DeCock in Dutch!) is not really an exception. He is an older man who has years of wisdom behind him and as such knows how to solve a crime without rushing in headfirst. He is, however, a bit slow and pedantic and is a little bit set in his ways, although he does occasionally bend the rules. He reminds me a lot of George Simenon's Maigret.
