Our old deep fat fryer was starting to leak oil and when a few weeks ago my husband got it out of the cupboard he decided it was leaking too much oil and we needed a new one. He bought this product from Curry's for £35 which seemed like good value to me until I found the same one on Amazon for £29.99 and considering I had Amazon credit I am now not so impressed it just shows it pays to shop around.

The deep fat fryer came packaged in a white cardboard box which was sealed with tape so you would know if it had been previously opened, on the box there is a little bit of information in 6 different languages,

Circular basket, food capacity of 1kg, oil capacity of 2.3 litres and permanent metal anti-odour filter,
Adjustable temperature control and ready to cook indicator light,
Removable dishwasher safe lid, cooler touch walls - the outside remains cooler than the metals body fryers

The deep fat fryer is white in colour and cylindrical in shape, I would have prefered a coloured one but it wasn't worth paying an extra £20 for when it gets put away in a cupboard. The product has a slider at the bottom of it which can be set from 150 degrees to 190 degrees depending on what you are cooking, there is a picture guide on the side for the temperatures which shows the following,

Chips - 15 minutes at 190 degrees
Chicken drumsticks - 8 minutes at 180 degrees
Vegetables - 7 minutes at 170 degrees - i'm not sure why you would cook vegetables in a deep fat fryer
Fish - 8 minutes at 160 degrees
Mushrooms - 7 minutes at 150 degrees

This product is very simple to use simply plug it in at the wall and slide the slider to the required temperature to heat up, the slider piece will light up when the fryer is ready to be used. The meatl basket inside can be lifted and will sit on the side of the fryer so that it is out of the oil whilst you load in your food so that you don't get any splash back from the hot oil. Now simply wait for your food to cook, to release the lid once your food is ready there is a push button which states open underneath it. The basket has a plastic arm which you lift from the front of the fryer to pull up the basket and check your food.

I have only used this fryer to cook chips but have found it to be great, the first time it was used the chips were too crispy and I was thinking that I wouldn't like chips cooked in it (might have stopped me eating them!) I think that the initial problem was actually due to using new oil and now the chips cooked in the fryer are lovely, I find it much better to put the fryer on about 170 degrees and then turn it up to 190 degrees when they are nearly cooked giving lovely fluffy chips with a crispy outside.

This fryer is easy to use and I like that it is cool to the touch even when it is at it's hottest inside as with two young children in the house I do worry about accidents with appliances like this. The chips that come out of the fryer are lovely and tasty and the basket can be sat on the edge of the fryer whilst the excess oil drains off. The fryer has been used a few times now and it wipes clean easily after each use and hasn't had any oil splashes to make it greasy to the touch like my last one did. I would recommend thias fryer just would have preferred to pay the lowest price!
