I have been watching deal or no deal from the very first show on the 31st of October 2005.
I was watching , good old countdown, (which i must say, isn't the same without Richard Whitely, God rest his soul.) When an advert for a new game show came on. Deal or no deal was to begin straight after countdown had finished. So i thought i'd give it a go. From the minute it started, i was ADDICTED!!!!
ABOUT DEAL OR NO DEAL
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ...As comes in the Question, DEAL OR NO DEAL?
No-one has ever dealt on the first offer, in the UK version.
So the game continues. Fred then opens three more boxes. Once again praying not to open the larger ones. Once he has done this, the banker once again phones and gives Fred an offer for his box. This will either have gone up or down depending on whats left. As the amounts are removed from the box, Fred and the banker, ... more
ABOUT DEAL OR NO DEAL ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Deal or no deal is a game show on channel four. It's on six days a week, Monday - Saturday. Monday - Friday it's on at 4.15pm, and Saturdays it's on at 5.55pm. The show lasts 45 minutes
Back ground ~~~~~~~~~~
The format for this show is owned by a Netherlands company called ENDEMAL. The also created shows such as Big Brother. This show was first shown in Australia back in 2003. But it is now shown in 38 countries, including: US Romania Mexico Poland Canada India Italy Israel Germany and of course the UK
~~~~~~~~~~~ UK VERSION ~~~~~~~~~~~ Well i will start at the beginning!
Theme tune ~~~~~~~~~~
The theme tune is very catchy. It's very up beat. My 11 month old son loves it. He sits and dances and claps right the way through it. So it gets you attention from the start.
Host ~~~~
Noel Edmond's hosts our version. You may remember him from Noels House Party. The silly Saturday night programme, when his best friend was Mr Blobby. Noel has been in show business for thirty years. But went into retirement back in 2000. He never planned on returning to television. But when he was offered the job on this show, he couldn't resist. But before Noel agreed to this, the job of host is said to have been offered to Les Dennis and Brian Connelly. I think the best man got the job.
Studio ~~~~~~
The studio is set up quite intimately. It is quite small. But this makes you feel like you are more involved. In the center of the studio is a round white table, with a chair and a black telephone. This is where the main contestant sits. The table sits on a wooden decking. This leads up the centre of the studio, to the front. Straight in front of the table, at the top of the decking is a big screen. This has amounts of money written on it, in two columns. The left side has amounts going from 1p, up to £750. These are coloured blue. And on the right it has amounts going from £1000 up to £250,000. These are in red. On both sides of the board are long tables .
Behind the table in the middle, are rows of chairs where the audience sits.
THE SHOW ~~~~~~~~~
The show begins with 22 players each having a box with a number from 1 to 22 on them. These boxes are picked at random by the contestants before the show. They then stand behind The long tables near the board, with their boxes in front of them. They are not in numerical order. But they seem to stand next to the same person every time.
Inside these boxes, there are amounts of money (well a card stuck to the inside of the lid with the amount written on it) that correspond to the amounts of money on the board. But no-one, other than the person who sorted the boxes, knows which amount is in which box. The screen then randomly shows all the players standing at the tables names, and picks today's player. The player then walks down the decking, taking their box with them, and takes a seat at the table. Placing the box in front of them.
Now the game begins. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The player at the table, who we shall call Fred for now, Has to chose five of the other players boxes to open one by one. As he does, the amounts he finds are wiped off the board, and they are gone for good. Fred wants to try and find the lower amounts of money, as the idea is, that he wants to have one of the higher amounts of money in his box. Once he has opened the first five boxes, The phone on the table rings. The person on the end of the phone is the BANKER.
The banker ~~~~~~~~~
He will be watching the game, and observing the amounts of money that have gone, and those that are left. He will then offer Fred an amount of money for his box. This amount depends on whats left on the board. You see the banker is not a nice man. He wants Fred to go home with a low amount of money. But Fred wants to go home with the most. So the banker tries to pay Fred off, by buying his box for less than it is worth. And tries to make Fred believe that he only has a small amount in his box. But because no-one knows what amount is in Fred's box, (not even the banker) the banker has to use whats left on the board as guidance. So If Fred hasn't touched any of the high numbers, the banker will offer a medium amount to Fred. But if he has taken out the £250.000, then the chances are it will be low. The first offer, is usually in the medium thousands, if the highest haven't been touched.
Back to the game ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So Noel then tells Fred the amount the banker has offered. Fred then has to decide if he thinks his box has more or less than the banker has offered, and if he wants to carry on playing, or deal, and take the bankers offer for his box. As comes in the Question, DEAL OR NO DEAL?
No-one has ever dealt on the first offer, in the UK version.
So the game continues. Fred then opens three more boxes. Once again praying not to open the larger ones. Once he has done this, the banker once again phones and gives Fred an offer for his box. This will either have gone up or down depending on whats left. As the amounts are removed from the box, Fred and the banker, get more of an idea of the amount of money in Fred's box. This is what determines the bankers offers.
This continues like this until Fred decides he wants to take the bankers offer, or until they are down to the last two boxes. Fred's box, and one other player. Fred then has to decide if to take the bankers final offer, or to open his box. This can be a big risk, as he may have 1p, and £250,000 left on the board. So one of them is in his box. But which one. He could take the bankers offer, which by this stage could be around £125,000, or risk opening his box, and finding he only has a penny. The choice is Fred's!!!!
RECORDS ~~~~~~~~
There are a few record for the amounts that people have won. In the UK, the lowest amount won so far, was 1p. This was won by Nick Bain on the 3rd of January 2006. The most won in the UK was £120,000 by Jennifer miller on the 18th of November 2005.
But the over all highest was won in Australia, when they went up to $2 million. The least was also won in Austrailia, when a player won $2. but the banker offered him the chance to bet it on a lose or double bet. Which he did, and he lost. so he went a way with nothing.
In the UK, the total amount won is £1,560,345.11 Not bad hey!!
Competition ~~~~~~~~~~
You get a chance to win money too. You can enter the daily game, where there are 3 boxes, and one is chosen by a member of the audience. and if you are chosen at random, you win the amount in the box. You can enter by phone. But this costs a pound. So your best off entering on line. It is free. But you don't always get chosen to leave your details. So you can spend the whole show trying to enter, and miss the show.
Be in the audience ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can be in the audience by emailing Dond_audience@endmoluk, or ringing 01173 160 860 It is filmed in Bristol.
Be on the show ~~~~~~~~~~~~
I believe they have all the contestants they need at the moment. But this is the email address if you want to try. But you have to be able to be there for weeks. Some of them are on there for over a month. They are put up in a hotel all this time. So think about work commitments first. dond@endemoluk.com
FANS!!! ++++++
There is a deal or no deal fan site. So if you are that big on it, log onto www.dond.co.uk.You can even play the game on this site. My View's I love this show. I think it's addictive, and you can't help but become involved. Noel Edmonds is great on here. He is very sympathetic, and gives the edge to the game. It took me a while to work out the game. But i guess that's just me being thick. But i would recommend this to anyone.
Advantages: Good entertainment Disadvantages: The contestants are sometimes far too greedy!
...few regular adverts saying that Deal or No Deal would be back on our screen soon. Well its on now. I was a huge fan of it last series, watching it when I returned from college and if I was going to be late I set my Sky + box to record it for me, I watched the replays and got the DVD game. ***DEAL OR NO DEAL***

Deal or No Deal is broadcast on Channel 4 Monday to Saturdays, with re-runs of Saturday taking place on Sunday. During the week it is on at 4:15p.m and on Saturday at 5:50p.m. It last about 45 minutes and, as with any Channel 4 program, has ad breaks usually at the most crucial points of the game. It is also aired on More 4 at about 6:00p.m and More 4+1(=5! Hehe!) at about 7:00p.m. This is when I usually catch it.

Noel will allow the Lucy time to think about the choice that has to be made. She may ask close friends in the wings for advice, she may be lucky enough to have family in the audience to ask them. Or she may quietly think. Noel may ask members of the audience to stand up if they think she should deal. He may single one or two out and ...

...accident that I first encountered Deal or No Deal, hosted by that charm magnet that we all know and love - Noel Edmonds. It was my daughter's tea-time feed and as we sat down on the sofa to watch yet another round of C-Beebies to amuse her whilst she ate - she decided to play with the remote, and unwittingly flicked over to Channel 4, where Noel was hosting Deal or No Deal and the rest is history.
It took me a couple of shows to get into it, but ... ...hell hear it sometimes!
Deal or No Deal (herein referred to a DOND) is brought to us by Endemol - who are also responsible for the hugely successful Big Brother and Who Wants to be A millionaire shows. Hosted by loveable charm magnet Noel Edmonds (can he really be 58, he's still a cutie ...!), who is back on our screens after disappearing off the entertainment scene for what seem like eons. He was by his own admission lured by Endemol, with an offer ...

~The Basics~
Deal or No Deal is a massive hit, which has quickly become the highest rating programme in its time slot. It's on Channel 4 six days a week late afternoon and is also repeated on More 4. It was created by Endemol who are responsible for Big Brother and do seem to have the knack of making TV which is quite compelling, but often annoyingly so. Intro
Deal or no Deal is a daily prime-time T.V. show that has become very popular over the last year. The appearance of Noel Edmonds makes it a smash hit on it's own as we all know, he was on his own show previously with Mr Blobby! It gathers 22 players who all want that top prize of £250,000 all for different reasons understandably. Deal or no Deal has become a revolutionary T.V/game show for local broadcaster 'Channel 4'. The Dutch creators, Endemol (nothing to do with Noel 'Edmonds'!) first introduced the amazing plot of the programme to Holland for it's debut where it was originally, and still is called Deal or no Deal. Since then, it has made it's way across the globe like wild fire travelling from Holland to Australia to here in the U.K. Noel ...

On the whole, Channel 4, and its digital channels are a have a good variety of shows for all types of people. The channel started broadcasting in 1988, and is a commercial channel, so adverts are on this channel.
*What Types Of Shows Are On Channel 4?*
Lots and lots is the simple answer. In the daytime there aren't that many top quality programmes, I watch ITV for daytime. There are shows like Friends and Will and Grace though, also there are older type films and news at 12 noon.
After three o'clock is where the fun starts. Countdown, followed by Deal or nodeal are game show type shows, which are great entertainment. Deal or nodeal is a fairly simple but effective show where players choose boxes with prizes in, but the banker tries to stop them from winning. 5 to 6 is the Paul O'Grady show, a chat show hosted by, Paul O ...

Win My Wage was shown on channel 4 between the 16th July and August 10th 2007 and was supposed to be the summer replacement for deal or nodeal - whilst Noel Edmonds had his holidays! Nick Hancock from They Think Its All Over was the presenter and the show looked like it could have been a good one, unfortunately things didn't go to plan for the show and it was axed early.
The basic structure of the show was one contestant and eight people, each with different jobs and different annual salaries. The aim of the game was for the contestant to select which person earns the highest wage after the six rounds and take the money, a maximum value of approximately £75,000.
In each round questions are asked to the contestants, childhood photos are shown and gradually more and more information is made available to the contestant. At the end ...

Advantages: Makes you think Disadvantages: Almost everything about the structure
Probably the toughest act to follow on television right now is replacing Deal Or NoDeal when it goes for summer vacation, and that's exactly what Win My Wage had to do. For people turning on their television set and expecting to see Noel Edmonds but seeing Nick Hancock instead, the old face of 'They Think It's All Over' was going to be a very different experience for them. Whilst it did only air on Channel 4 for a matter of weeks and I'm not sure if Deal was rushed back because of bad ratings, I think all those who missed it should listen up because you might have missed something you could enjoy.
Forty-five minutes worth of a gameshow is a bit of a pain to sit through when you know things could be wrapped up so much quicker, but this show does fall into the 4.15-5pm slot. At the start of each show we are introduced to a contestant ...
