I have had a Debenhams store card for many years now, as you or may not read my Debenhams review, I can spend an awful lot of time in there and an awful lot of money.

Debenhams store cards are issued by GE Money, one of the main companies that department stores, such as Debenhams go through when arranging a store card.

Its an ideal piece of plastic if you shop a lot in Debenhams and works like any other store card. When you first take out the card you will be asked to fill in an application form in store so they are able to contact GE Money to see whether you would be accepted for a card. As they call through you will be given an answer instantly as to whether you are able to receive a card and if yes, you purchases of that first day will go on your new store card the same day, then all you have to do is wait for your actual card to come through in the post.

Once your card comes through, it arrives with details of your credit limit, terms and condition of the agreement, and general information about the card itself, then you are free to go back into the store and spend away. It doesn't matter if there are various outlets in your Debenhams store that are independent high street names, if it part of the Debenhams store, you are eligible to put these purchases onto your card.

Each month you will receive a statement detailing what you credit limit is, what purchases you have made, any payments that have been received, the due date that your next payment is required, you outstanding balance on the account and the amount of credit that you have left available on the card to spend in store. You normaly get 59 days froma transaction before you start to pay interest on your purchases and ideally the best way to manage your card if to pay of the balance in full when it comes through to save any interest being added onto the card as interest is normally charged at around 28% APR on this particular store card.

The issuer's of the card will also issue you with a pin number as you are able to have cash back from any Link cash machine if that is what you require, however its one way of diggng yourself into a hole if you start obtaining cash back from the card so not a wise move.

All purchase in store have to be signed for instead of using the pin number, as the cards themselves are not chip and pin, just authorised by signature.

They are a great card to have if you enjoy this store as much as I do!

That's a horribly high APR!

Good review....our nearest Debenhams is 23 miles away. I do not have store cards prefering to actually see the money go out. I am a budgeter although not a miser and like to keep tabs on my hard earned cash LOL Thanks. J.
