As many women of colour already known, brown skin has a greater degree of natural pigment, known as melanin. This pigment gives a higher degree of protection from the sun, gives a rich, deep colour and allows women to keep the youthful texture of their skin for a longer time. But the production of melanin can also have its drawbacks, and one major problem for Asian and African women is uneven skin tone due to the over-production of melanin, especially after the skin faces any type of trauma, however small. This is known as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

It should be noted that dark marks caused by hyperpigmentation will normalise by themselves over time, as new skin cells surface. But many women want a faster solution to fade marks or a product that will prevent them as much as possible. Decleor's Aroma White range is ideal for this.

The main ingredient in the cream is Mulberry extract and natural plant derivatives. The cream has a rich consistency which is deeply moisturising but completely absorbed into dry skin types. The cream gives a firm cover from the sun, having SPF 15, and it protects the skin from rough environmental conditions. After around three weeks, dark patches begin to fade and skin tone improves.

The cream is quite expensive, so it is better used for treatment rather than for continued use. Once the pigment has normalised, further pigment problems can be prevented by following a careful skincare regime, such as the one outlined below:
1) Wash the face morning and night with a mild detergent to prevent spots.
2) Exfoliate the face gently with a scrub to encourage fresh new cells to come to the surface.
3) Avoid trauma to the skin. This means never mess with spots, wear absorbent moisturiser containing a sunscreen everyday. If there is any trauma to the skin, put a few drops of lemon onto the area, or lavender oil.
