A good fryer guaranteed to make you fat! Advantages: Good quality, high capacity, variable temperature Disadvantages: Oil evaporates onto the units above it I bought this deep fat fryer just over a year ago from Amazon.co.uk for about £50. It is a very good quality fryer with variable temperature control up to 190 degrees, and is an attractive brushed steel design. There is also an on-off button and a red indicator light which turns off when the required temperature has been reached. The basket can hold about 1.2kg of food, which is slightly more than most domestic fryers. It is very effective and cooks ... ...packs away neatly as the handle folds cleverly inside without touching the oil, so that the removable lid can cover it. You have to wait for several hours after using it before it is cool enough to put the lid back on. The main bowl lifts out for easy cleaning and the basket is dishwasher safe. The remaining parts have to be washed in the sink. It leaks oil, Avoid! Advantages: A filtering system... when it can be bothered to work properly. Disadvantages: Leaks oil, Lots of washing up and bits and pieces to clean. I would avoid this product like the plague. The features seem inviting but the mess and clean up soon put end to those attractions. I have had two of these, the first one fried wonderfully but when it came time to filter the oil through the system it ended up all over my work surface and all over my laminate floors. Thinking it was a flaw in this particular one, i returned it and got another one. Everything was set up correctly as instructed and ... ...the filtration system it started off filtering well and the moment i turned my back it ended up pouring out over my work surface and floor yet again. I now find a pot and some oil is much more simple. don't forget the spuds Advantages: compact with good capacity Disadvantages: cannot remove filter or bowl to clean, need to place near an extractor as odour and vapour not controlled ...we came home with a Moulinex silver and black rather attractive number, along with the requisite bag of potatoes from our local supermarket. No Not a Deep Fat Fryer Advantages: Quick and easy Disadvantages: A bit greasy This was a joint present for my self and hubby but I think he will use it more than I will. It has been used about 6 times, and out of those 6 I think I have used it once. I think once the novelty wears off, he won't use it as much. I know that deep fat fryers are one of the most unhealthy ways to cook things, but they are handy to have. For a start chips taste much better when cooked in a deep fat fryer, (and I don't mean from the chip shop, much ... ...home. Chips will probably be the only thing that gets cooked in it. Ok so enough about me, I will get on with the product review. Now this was a present from my mum and dad, and I think mum got the idea after I saw hers and said that must be so easy to clean.
