don't forget the spuds
Advantages: compact with good capacity Disadvantages: cannot remove filter or bowl to clean, need to place near an extractor as odour and vapour not controlled
...we came home with a Moulinex silver and black rather attractive number, along with the requisite bag of potatoes from our local supermarket. After 3 attempts at badly peeling and preparing chips (cutting decent looking chips is not all that easy) and managing to firstly burn, then undercook and finally get it exactly right, I thought, hang on, wouldn't it have been easier to have bought a traditional fryer you just put on the hob. Well, being a little ... ...as I cook, I think that for safety reasons alone, a stand alone contained fat fryer is the better option, no matter what make you're looking for.
Anyway, here's the lowdown on what this fryer offers:
thermostatic temperature settings (160,170,180,190
dishwasher safe basket
1.2kg capacity (enough for 2 large portions, or 4 small)
permanent metal filter
clear viewing window
nice black and chrome look
on/off switch with led
easy open lid
So ...

Moulinex Supralys
Advantages: it looks nice Disadvantages: everything.
it holds 2.2 litre oil .yes it does but when you lower the basket in it hardly touched the oil.it is surposed to have a 1.2 kg food capacity which i find it hard to believe.there is 5 of us in my house .who wants to stand there for ages cooking 5 lots of chips.with the basket being a lot bigger than i had with my last fryer i thought it would hold more but it doesnt.it has a Adjustable thermostat control witch is ok and simple to use.it has a Safety ... ...get the hang of it.its got a little ledge on which you angle the basket on .if you dont do it right the basket falls right back in to the fat.it has a Removable lid for easy cleaning which sounds good but there are parts in the lid you cant get to unless you use a screwdriver.it as a Permanent anti grease filter which also sounds good untill the fryer pongs your house out.it also gets that hot you cant touch it. there are only 2 good points that ...

Flippin dangerous
Advantages: cooks fairly well Disadvantages: Dodgy handle
...must be obeyed' purchased the moulinex deep fat fryer because she liked the colour (sort of a pukey yellow) Ever since we have had the fryer, the unclipable handle comes off nearly every time we take food from the frier. More often that not we get splashed with extremely hot fat. We have to make sure the children are nowhere near when using it. I keep threatening to write to moulinex and complain about it, but unless I can do it on the PC via email ...

Cook works signature compact fryer
Price and availability
I bought the cook works signature compact fryer from Argos in the sale which meant it cost less than £10. It is currently on offer for £12.99 and its RRP is £19.59. Cook works is Argos own brand and so is only available at Argos. My experience and useful information
I bought it from Argos but kept in packaged up in the box for a few days as I was expecting it to need a ... ...a small litre bottle. When I removes it from the box it was much smaller than I expected and a small stainless steel casing. I rinsed out the fat compartment then filled with oil. It was pretty simple to figure out the fill level as there is a minimum and maximum line. The minimum is 0.6 litres and a maximum of 0.8 litres. There is a temperature guide that suggests the temperature of various items ranging from 90 to190 degrees. There's a dial on ...

Tefal ProFry Oleoclean - Great to clean but serious saftey issues
Advantages: Easy to clean - cooks well - Container to filter oil into. Disadvantages: Health and saftey issues
As we all know Tefal are pretty good and this fryer could have been excellent if only a little more thought had been put in to certain things, therefore I'm afraid this review is not as good as I would have liked it to have been, I believe the fryer to be quite dangerous. It has a retail price of around £100.00 and I think this is a high price to pay for something which isn't up to scratch. I like to find good items at the lowest possible price so ... ...steel appliances in your kitchen. Tefal often use bright colours which may not fit in with other appliances you have so this was a real bonus for me. The built in but removable oil container is great, it's more hygenic and much more convenient than the types where you have to pull that little tube out and find something to filter the oil into, this is time consuming and messy, most people result to leaving the oil sitting in the fryer as it's much ...
