I wrote that my husband had bought this and one thing he chose to pay extra for was the Dell A525 2.1 speaker and subwoofer set.
My husband had first got into computer speakers with a subwoofer some years before, on a visit to the Morgan Computers store in Greenford. There, he picked up an Aiwa set which served him well and gave him excellent sound quality for listening to music, however it was bulky and over time began to look rather dated.
The A525 is much smaller and sleeker, and the small silver speakers sit perfectly beside the sleek 19” widescreen monitor, complimenting it perfectly.
The A525 consists of a subwoofer box and two speakers which connect easily to the computer. The subwoofer box also has a mains lead to power the speakers.
Once connected, they are very easy to use. The combined power on/off and volume switch is located on the right hand speaker and illuminates blue when the power is on. The total output of this unit is 30 watts.
The subwoofer has only one control and that is for bass. This is located on top of the silver subwoofer box – you cannot miss it. I must admit at this point that I am no fan of too much bass in my music so I tend to keep this fairly low but having tried it up high on some reggae music I have been reminded of my old home just off London’s Portobello Road and what it was like during the Notting Hill Carnival.
I listen to a lot of music on the computer and watch TV on it too and have often been struck at the clarity on offer and how this small unit packs a punch – and you can turn up the volume safe in the knowledge there will be no distortion as a result.
The only thing which I think would give you better sound through your computer would be a surround sound system, but I would only really recommend that if you watched a lot of TV or DVDs on your system. I also have what I know is a totally unreasonable dislike of surround sound systems due to the amount of wire they entail and now would only countenance surround sound if the system was wireless.
Visually this is a nice looking set - the small silver speakers look stunning in my opinion and even the subwoofer is aesthetically pleasing with the designers choosing a silver box to case it which gives it a classic look, unlike the oddly shaped Aiwa we had which pre-dated this and now looks old and clunky. It is also fairly small meaning it won't look out of place on your desk, although mine is housed on the floor.
This speaker and subwoofer set is still available from Dell – I do not know how much extra my husband paid for this set when he bought the computer from Dell two years ago but you can still pick this up from the Dell website for £31.04. It's worth noting however that you can pick this up for significantly less on eBay.
If you want something which looks stylish and gives you great sound through your desktop computer you could do a lot worse than this 2.1 set from Dell - I think it is an inexpensive and easy to use piece of kit to improve the sound quality from any computer and heartily recommend it.
...speakers, and it being a Dell I thought I may aswell buy Dell speakers. I came across a listing on Ebay and the seller was just down the road so I bought them. When I connected them up I was astonished. The sound quality is excellent for such a compact size. The subwoofer has a dial on the top to adjust the bass level and when that is turned write up it litterally makes the desk shake. Sound reproduction is excellent from the two stereo speakers ... ...30 Watt (RMS), Frequency Response 45 - 20000 Hz, Dimensions (W x D x H) 2.7 in. x 2.6 in. x 6.7 in. If you like Dell or are in need of some inexpensive speakers for multimedia on your PC then buy these, you will not be disapointed. ...

I ordered this because I needed a desktop to replace my old. I got this desktop with a free upgrade to a 19'' TFT LCD widescreen monitor. Watching movies and viewing pictures on the 19'' monitor is a paradise. The power button lits up in blue with cool soft blue hues flooding the sides of the desktop. I like that. I got the order a week after I placed the order online. Dell was kind enough to call me to confirm the shipment of the item. The setup was easy as the cables were color-coded. It comes with 10 USB ports (4 in front and 4 behind). There is 2 USB ports inside as well. It is useful to me as I have tons of USB devices. The keyboard and mouse are average looking but with good quality. I also added a 2.1 speaker system which is the DellA525 to the order for GBP10. The speakers are great!!! The low bass from the woofer is tight ...

SOUND CARD
No options here. There's integrated audio with Dolby Digital 7.1 capability included in the price and that's your lot. I've got no qualms with this one though and in fairness - how much can you expect to build on such a cheap and basic PC?!
SPEAKERS
Choose from no speakers (included in the price), DellA225 stereo speakers for £5.87, DellA525 speakers with subwoofer for £23.50, Dell 5650 5.1 surround speaker system for £41.12, Creative Inspire T7900 7.1 speaker system for £81.07, Dell AS501 soundbar for £35.25 or Logitech Z-5400 5.1 for £186.82. I apologise if this sounds OTT but who in their right mind would spend nearly £200 for speakers on a £300 PC? For goodness sakes buy a stereo! I opted for the sensible £5.87 basic speakers here and I've not been disappointed. They ...
