Our household now has two Dell Dimension 2400 computers such was are satisfaction with the quality of the product. Coming in a more fashionable black exterior they also look much better. We were also surprised how easy it was to setup the machine, leads are colour coordinated with the plugs and the diagram showing how everything went together gets 10/10 from me especially when compared to quick-fit furniture.
---Price---
Not the cheapest of computers, but you paying for the service really as there has been no major problem whatsoever with the system. The price of the computer in question is approx £700, but the price always changes every month or two so keep an eye out for the best deals. In addition keep a look out for special offers which change often e.g at the time of writing if you get 80gb hard drive you can upgrade to 120gb for free. Look on there website at www.dell.co.uk or in the papers as they have thier adverts in regularly. Another major advantage is the easy customise and buy feature available over the phone and their website. Pick and choose the system and price which best suits you. Every time you click on an option the price changes instantly, so you can keep tabs on how much your spending.
---Service---
Keeping up to date with your orders progress was simple as a phone call away. Getting through to a Dell advisor was also easy if there was any queries. However when ordering over the phone do not be pushed into anything you don't want as the salesperson can be quite aggressive as they are most likely paid on commisssion.
---Specifications---
The customise and buy feature allows you to change these to your own personal needs, but the specification for this particular system are quite ample at the time of writing. Dell printers can also be recommended as the ease of use for them has been amazing when compared to our old Epson printer, price wise too they are very good value.
---Usuability/Durability---
The Dell Dimension 2400 seems solidly built and there are no signs of cutting corners at the customers expense (e.g. exterior tower case isn't slotted together perfectly). I've only had the system for 3 months so I can't comment much on the durability or reliability, but the machine is still in perfect working order.
---Conclusion---
Overall I would throughly recommened buying any computer through Dell or at least a Dell Dimension 2400. The whole process of chosing through to delivery, setup and then use has been extremly simple, especially when compared to other older systems brought (it may though be a sign of the times that companies can provide better service at a lower cost to themselves and the consumer). In addition any upgrades can be easily accessed through Dell although this isn't one avenue I've been down yet. So if your in the midst of chosing a computer don't avoid Dell.

The main problem with Dell would seem to be their customer service which I've found to be consistently poor. My Dimension 8100 is good but I doubt I'd buy from them again after the experience of trying to buy a laptop from them which they failed to deliver. In the end we had to drop the problem onto our credit card provider after Dell refused to either refund the money or deliver the laptop. It took a year to sort it all out. Never again.
