Firstly I hope everyone finds this review useful. This is my first review on Ciao and also the only proper in depth review online I have done.
I have been asked to fix one of these models of PC for a friend as he was having problems, and the manufacture warrenty had run out. The problem was because of user error not a manufacturer one. After reviewing the specs and seeing the product first hand I think it is a very good PC both performance wise and price wise. It comes with quite up to date components, Pentium 4 650 3.2Ghz Processor with hyperthreading, 1gig of DDR2 SDRAM, 250gig SATA HD (7200rpm), 13 in 1 card reader, Phillips CD-RW DVD-RW, ATI Radeon X600video card which is PCI, and more.
The case has a gaping hole for maximum air flow into the computer, and with the huge heat sink which has a massive surface area which the air travels over, this helps keep overall temperature down of the CPU can PC. With the two internal fans, the PC runs to a very quiet level of noise which is very impressive. The case is also very user friendly with the way it allows you to open the sides of the PC case with a easy to use pull and slide system, no more need for screwdrivers and lost screws! This is also evident once inside the case, the slide system also works with the installation and removal of optical drives, and the Hard Drive connection is just a simple click in system, which is very easy to do and very secure. Its has a second slot for the upgrade of a hard drive and two more slots for expanding memory, up to 4gig. All of the cables are also very tidily hidden away which also helps the air flow through the computer and makes upgrading parts easier with more space avaliable.
One of the things I found disappointing was that it does not allow the connection of PS2 keyboard and mouse which can be frustrating as people still use these, also a floppy drive was not installed. I am not sure if it was the users' preference upon purchase, but from what I know the New Dell E510 has one as standard. On the other hand it had 7 usb ports which can also be used for keyboard and mouse connections. Two of these ports are accessible on the front of the stylish Artic Silver BTX case allowing connection of devices such as MP3 players, scanners, digital cameras and much more.
Overall a good PC for the price, although lacking certain additions such as a wireless internet connection, fiirewire connection and lacks wireless peripherals. Everything is there that creates a good multimedia computer, which is capable of playing most the lastest up to date games. The computer also comes with Genuin Windows XP Home Edition, and music, picture and scanning software/programs installed. I would happily reccommend this product.
