As far as writing about computers goes i am not the most experienced so please bear with me and i'll try and do what i think is a great computer, justice.
First of all, i had previously owned a Dell Dimension 8400 with double memory due to a deal via online purchasing. My needs in a desktop computer have expanded and having been very happy with Dell products in the past, i have upgraded to the Dimension 9200. This is where my first tip to a potential buyer comes in- check out the Dell website because if you buy direct and order at the right time, they very often have deals on such as double memory as previously mentioned, or freebies such as printers and scanners. I ordered mine online again this time and found the staff as usual to be incredibly helpful and very pleasant. Ordering online also allows you to customise the PC to suit your needs. The spec is as follows:
I expanded my memory from 320GB to 500GB as being at university i also use the system as an entertainment centre, which tends to eat away quite a large chunk. This cost me £899 with no extra cost for the upgrade in memory or for the shipping and handling, which i thought was excellent value for money. I could have got a free wireless bluetooth mouse and keyboard but i know which i'd rather have! The actual unit looks modern and stylish with silver and white trims and i much prefer it to the simple black design of the earlier models. In terms of practicality it's a very quiet computer to run which is excellent for those wanting to use it either as a media centre (where the last thing you want is to hear a whirring fan over the sound of the movie you're enjoying) or for work. The fan is quite big at 120mm and the ventilation in the main unit means that cool air passes the memory and graphics cards which allows for a healthier computer. I don't tend to play computer games but this model has been tipped as one of the best on the market if that's your thing, with a top graphics card and dual speeds.
One slightly annoying factor, and this happens with all desktops, is the number of wires to be plugged into the back, especially with the numerous speakers etc. By providing brackets and clips Dell hoped to make the trauma of moving your computer around easier but sadly, failed, as it's still as annoying as ever. Those with laptops have the easy option in this case.
The analogue monitor is huge and being TFT means that it is easier to see the screen from different locations in the room, especially with its height-adjustable stand. The speakers produce a clean crisp sound and play any type of music well. Normally modern speakers and car stereos are geared for particular types of music ie dance tracks and anything computer-created. The Dell 9200 allows you to listen to anything and adjust any aspect of the sound eg bass to suit your preferences.
In terms of optic drives, this desktop has two DVDRW drives and a floppy drive- for the uninitiated this basically means you can burn (make) DVDs and CDs as well as play them. The inclusion of dual drives means that you can run both drives at the same time and therefore do much more with your computer in a shorter space of time eg listen to music with one drive whilst downloading software off another. My older Dell model had a tendency to crash both drives from time to time which was probably in some way my fault, but considering my computer skills haven't improved since then, i haven't noticed a similar problem with this model and it appears to run much faster and take on commands straight away. The whole unit weighs in at 28lb so if you're thinking good things come in small packages, i'm afraid not this time.
If you still require a floppy disk drive, you won't be disappointed and there are many slots in the back of the PC to add lots of hardware. I am able to plug in a printer, a digital camera, the mouse, the keyboard, the speakers, a USB stick and an internet connection and there are still lots of spare slots to add more things if you're a busy compuer-user. The memory is more than enough and allows you to run more programs and smoothly- i remember when i was little and our desktop would only allow us to install one game on it before the memory was full. I'm curious to see if i reach the end of the memory on the 9200 model if i'll stumble upon a pot of gold!
Having a dual core processor means that the PC is faster and more reliable and as standard, Windows XP Media Centre is included as the operating system, which means that everything you need to run DVDs, CDs and photography software is already here. The numerous support manuals and instruction guides will i'm sure, never be read by me, but should you wish to peruse technical details about your computer, there's enough to go at. I definately would recommend this system to anyone- whether you want to use it for business or entertainment and whether you're new to computers or a whiz, because it's so easy to use and puts you in control in an easy way. The service at Dell in my own experience is second to none, both before and after the product is bought- they can be reached by telephone and email and do not ask you to remain on hold whilst they empty your pockets.
And yes, before you panic, Spider Solitaire is still here...
Advantages: Powerful, Good Looking, Large Memory and Space Disadvantages: Heavy, Sold as it is with poor starting performance, a bunch of crap software installed.
...following an impressful specification on Dell Website.
The most sad thing is I choose a basic warranty, that means pack & send over 1 year, meaning i have to keep all the boxes, and actually let it go to make sure it's OK. But i decided to keep it as it is and improve performance by myself, so far its OK, but problems like these persists:
- Rapid networking disconnections, error messages, from the minute i first had it ON (Might be Windows fault)
... ...heavy), and all the software Dell installs is very poor, needs reinstalling, buying (60-days trials or something like that), or what i did, deleting and buying proper software.
A printer offered by dell for £10 or for free as a gift, Dell 725, is one of the worst printers i have ever seen, my 6 year old HP is at least three times better than the new one, producing horrible sounds, poor graphics and no quality at all, if you want something under ...

Advantages: Cheap and fast if you buy at pc world Disadvantages: Expensive on this site
This is a fast and efficient computer with one of the newest and fastest processing chips, the core 2 duo, though this is now mainly standard for all new pc\'s and notebooks, this pc has made it even faster, by having the extra ram, The extra dvd rewriter for both -/+ dvd\'s make it prefect and hassless when purchasing blank dvd\'s to burn files onto. it is also energy efficient, since it does not use a large power supply box, it has 3 internal fans ...

Advantages: cheaper than some high machines with 8800GTX cards Disadvantages: not really upgradeable
I bought this with the 8800GTX card so as I could play some of the new games and I have not been disappointed. The only problem I discovered was the disk drives vibrate through the case and cause noise, this can be cured by sticking a few bits of foam rubber between the drive rails. The monitor is first class and the entire package is good value. There is not a lot I can add to this review, it started off as a quick review but I decided to expand ... ...First off, if you are going to buy this machine, bear in mind it is NOT the same as a standard PC, it uses Intel's BTX form factor motherboards, as opposed to the standard ATX.
in practise and actual use, this does not really matter, it does however make for a much quieter PC as fans are reduced to a minimum and that helps keep noise down, but may affect upgrades later on.
On this model, I specified SATA hard drives, (in a "raid" configuration) ...

Advantages: Very Fast On Internet, Great Graphics Disadvantages: Abit Noisy
Well.. I love this computer, ive had it for about 6 months now and its fantastic! I dont know about all the technical stuff, sorry!
To start with, it comes with windows vista home premium which is fantastic and very easy to use. Its also fabulous graphics! It goes _very_ fast on the internet which is great, but it takes a while to start up. If you are looking to buy a new computer because you have an old one, this wont seem slow to start up to you, ... ...I generally just put mine on sleep mode overnight and whenever im not on it, its silent just like it is turned off and takes 2 seconds to start up.
It has a very big memory, i have endless songs and photos saved on it with no problem with space at all. If you are new to computers, this would be great for you because it is so easy to use and understand.
Sometimes it is abit noisy when it is turned on but i solved this by squishing a thick book ontop ...

Quick review of Dell Dimension 9200
Based on the product Information, Honestly this is not a good PC for Gamers or Multimedia projects.
1st - We don't know each of the hardware brand within the PC
2nd - no one knows the test result of this PC performance
I only give 2 stars (**) of six just for the Intel core duo Platform.
The rest hardware, no idea about it. for example How could you buy a car even you don't know how fast the car could run. pretty make sense isn't?
if you buy this PC only for study, make programs, or any other homework this is the right stuff for you. but if you are a gamer or even a graphic designer....a...a....think it over before you get disappointed. ...
